jTBC Drama A Hundred Memories with Kim Da Mi and Shin Ye Eun Wraps with Polarizing Reception and Steady Ratings Increase Up to 8%
A K-drama just finished airing last weekend with jTBC Sat-Sun weekend series A Hundred Memories concluding its 12-episode run. The period drama was set in the 1980s centered around two girls who meet from working as bus conductor hostesses when that job was still in existence, and a love triangle with the male lead along with the two girls friendship and rivalry in both life and love. Female leads Kim Da Mi and Shin Ye Eun got glowing reviews for their acting and chemistry but viewers appeared to really dislike the narrative, namely the love triangle back and forth with male lead Heo Nam Joon. The praise went to the beautifully captured mood of the 80s and the friendship elements but goodness I’ve heard so many complaints about the frustrating plot, including a whole Miss Korea finale and even an attempted assassination. With that said, the drama did well for jTBC since even complaining about it is more buzz than most K-dramas get these days with little to no discussion, and the ratings reflected that premiering with 3.280% and going up steadily to end at 8.109% in the final episode 12.

Sorry, but for me Shin Ye Eun totally stole the show, maybe outshone even Kim Dami in most scenes. In my opinion her character is the most complex one. It’s my opinion
Acting is solid but the plot isn’t appealing to a foreigner like me who couldn’t relate to the culture. I dropped after ep1.
Wow, those are some unexpectedly high ratings. I’m happy for the actors. The trailer seemed like it could be charming, but I am not into love triangles that threaten friendships.
This was a Shin Yeeun show. Kim Junghyun was also good despite a minor role. The story did not appeal to me, and I couldn’t finish it. I thought it would be more about the lives of bus conductors in the 80s, but that was just a minor setup here.
Unpopular opinion, but Kim Dami’s acting has been questionable recently. I really liked her in Itaewon Class and OBS was okay too. However, here and in Nine Puzzles, it feels like she always talks like a baby. It was attractive in Itaewon, and I thought that was part of the character setup. I find it very distracting now that this is always the case, regardless of character.
Shin Yeeun gets better in every role. She is a scene stealer given a good role.
I don’t know who this girl SYE is but at first glance from her pictures, I thought it was Suzy Bae.
