He Yu and Bao Sheng En Likely Cast for iQiyi Scheming Revenge and Romance Period C-drama Di Mou
I expect to see more 2026 on deck to start filming C-dramas announce leads in the coming weeks so get ready for oodles of casting goodies! Period C-drama centered around revenge, plotting, and romance titled Di Mou (嫡谋 or translated as Scheme of the Official Descendant) is more likely than not going to star He Yu and Bao Shang En. He’s continuing his male lead elevation though both dramas have yet to air so no idea if C-audiences will like it while she’s been pushed to female lead status for multiple dramas despite her relative young age and so far hasn’t had a breakout hit or performance yet. The source novel is a rebirth story for the female lead but with that topic still banned in C-ent it will likely get pasted over for another plot device to give the female lead smarts to avenge those who have/will wrong her.

SO now rebirth + revenge double R’s has become a trend not gonna die for a while, I guess. I’ll get tired of it perhaps sooner than I expect, specifically when leading actors have no appeal to me.
Yep any rebirth or reincarnation trope either gets completely altered in an awkward way or a dream and just a story excuse. With the main leads getting a quickly ending we hope they will stop using over and over again. One can only hope someone can find a formula that executes a satisfying ending like legitimately so. 🤷🏻♀️ I know many are tired of this scenario but it is what it is lol because almost all novels and webtoons have this trope; it is just no one seems to have mastered a masterful execution of it quite yet.
I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be mean, but she has such a forgettable face to me. Not everyone agrees on the standard of beauty, but I can at least say Bai Lu, Shen Yue, Wu Jinyan, Zhang Jingyi, Zhao Jinmai and them have memorable faces. I hear Bao Shangen’s name all the time but her face is like an invisible blur to me each time.
Unfortunately, I feel the same too. She’s not a distracting bad actress, but I find her presence and gaze bland. I’m waiting for her to get a role that will get her to step it up.
