TW-tabloids Go Wild with News that F4 is Reuniting at Concert this December in Shanghai But Without Member Ken Chu and Adding Top TW-singers Jay Chou and Ashin of Mayday as Special Guests
Nothing like a member getting kicked/left out conflict that drum up way more publicity than just a regular announcement of a reunion concert for a top TW-group. F4 announced this week that it was holding a concert over a few nights in Shanghai later this month in December called the F ✦ Forever City of Stars Tour and with it released a new single in close to twenty years. The new single is titled “Forever Forever” and fans were shocked to see only members Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, and Vanness Wu alongside special guests Jay Chou and Ashin of Mayday in the cover art and music video. This is a banging lineup but everyone was only talking about member Ken Chu missing, and it ramped up with Ken’s side saying he was not asked to join and he only knew he was left out when the announcement of the new single and concert came out.
There were rumors that Ken leaked the reunion when it was to be kept top secret until the announcement hence he was kicked out. Then Ken did a livestream where he said he was in talks with the production company but after he rejected their three asks then no further communication happened. That’s when all sympathy evaporated for Ken since it’s clear he was the only who said no and the production company did not continue to negotiate or beg him and moved in a different direction. Netizens say Ken brought this on himself, including previous comments that he made that he never really liked F4 songs, that he wasn’t friends in real life with the other members, that he was salty at always being considered the least attractive/talented member, etc. The manager of Mayday is considered to be shading Ken after he posted “Please go look at yourself first” lol. Word.

whaddya expect? honestly, he is worst than those busybody neighborhood aunties with all that gossip. no filter! no wonder he’s the only one left out. looking at the promotional poster above everyone looks good. no ahjusshi vibes!
Vaness Wu was the least attractive for me when I was watching F4. But his charisma and good acting really makes me like him so much.
Other than Jerry, I don’t see others in drama for many years. Sad
I dont miss Ken… and it is not because of his looks. Glad he is out.
Sad without Barbie.
And reminds me how fleeting starring-actor acting careers are. They get a few popular years and then sort of fade or move onto non-acting work or retire. I remember when Vic Zhou was lead in several drams. Don’t think I’ve seen either him or Vanness Wu doing dramas in years.
Yep, the last drama I saw Vanness Wu in was “The Princess Wei Young” back in 2016. Vic Zhou has been in dramas and movies more steadily, up to the present (according to his filmography), just not anything so popular it would have led to everyone talking about him.
To be fair, there are many notable exceptions to the “fleeting starring-actor acting careers” phenomenon. Just looking at K-ent, actors like Lee Byung Hun and Gong Yoo (among many others) have been popular leading actors for more than two decades. Though I doubt the younger generations of actors will find be able to emulate that longevity and success.
Good cash in their older days….too bad for Ken.
The 1st poster did scream out loud: Look! We’re indeed middle age already. LOL. But I’m sure there’re still many fans nostalgic for these guys’ heyday although they are now outdated uncles. LOL. These Taiwanese singers/celebs can’t make their marks in a broader market as Kpop idols or K actors have been doing. All the extensive spotlight they can grab outside Taiwan is on the other side that understands the spoken language easily. They are not able to attract fans simply through music itself. It just shows that their talents as artists are limited. LOL. My opinion also applies to Jay Chou and Mayday. They are all overrated IMO.
I say it’s not F4 with 1 member missing, and over such petty reasons, they could have made efforts to be more inclusive, if they really want it to happen.
“Don’t bit the hands that feed you,” never been more true.
I don’t think i like any of the F4 members lol. Vic Zhou used to be my fav, but then he got all pissy sore loser when he lost best actor to Mark. After that, i never looked at him the same. Plus his speech has always been a bit weird.
Jerry is ok, i just never got the hype about him. Acting never drew me in. But he’s a good looking face.
Vanness is a controversial figure. He can be convincing in his acting roles and has charisma, but he always seemed a bit of an egomaniac, though that might have tempered down in recent years. Nevertheless, not a lot to write home about.
Ken is the black sheep of the group. Always known for being the troublemaker and fussy like Jerry (though Jerry has a sizable fanbase to back his fussiness.) I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being picky about contract terms, but it is kind of weird to be written off so early during contract negotiations.
It speaks to their power when their reunion has so many eager fans awaiting that chance. If Barbie was alive, im sure she would enjoy this opportunity too.
