Wang Xing Yue and Deng En Xi Confirmed for Modern Romance Drama Confession to Start Filming Next Month February 2026
C-actor Wang Xing Yue is only 23 years old this year and that’s always wild when I remember it because he’s been in so many dramas since his debut in 2020 and has really earned his chops and elevation to male lead. A lot of thinking he’s older is because he’s done so many period dramas where he always comes across as mature with gravitas, and he doesn’t play his real age much. In 2022 he did do a modern romance drama set in college with Tian Xi Wei and now four years later he’s going to headline another romance modern drama this time with Deng En Xi. The drama is called Confession or A Love Confession (告白 Gao Bai) and is slated to start filming next month in February. Yan An will be the second male lead so lucky Deng En Xi getting two smoldering type hotties vying for her lol. I can’t wait to check out the visuals for this drama when the first promos come out.
Earned? With what, apart from The Double? Yu Zheng is unsuccessfully trying to make him happen so all the leads. They all end the same way too, flop.
I tend to keep my expectations low for Chinese productions since the quality can often be more of a miss than a hit for me, but when they’re good, it’s such a pleasant surprise.
I have a soft spot for the lead actors, and everything I’ve read about this drama so far has me genuinely excited.
One of XXY’s biggest advantages is his age; he’s still young with plenty of time and space to grow, take on great dramas, deliver impressive performances, and hopefully, someday, move on from his agency.
I’ve seen ‘somebody’ criticize WXY for not constantly putting out new work, as if every actor in China does that. The ones who do often end up releasing low-quality stuff anyway. Chinese dramas vary a lot in quality, with no real consensus. Of course, fans of certain actors will scream and swear like obsessed fangirls, insisting their favorites’ works are the best in the world, which makes them hardly reliable. She clearly doesn’t get what it’s like for those who aren’t big names and are under someone like Yu Zheng, who basically makes all the decisions for his actors while they’re still building their resumes.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I only ever liked his acting in Your sensibility My Destiny and since then I just never jived with his characters so far. I know everyone loved him in the Double but I felt distant from his characterization in that one and was more in tune to the actress role because it was more suspenseful and interesting than his in the drama. Not saying he is a bad actor though. But lately his roles seem dare I say the same since: stoic or cold with dry humor. I want more from him but I guess the one he is under has a formula he won’t let him grow more from. Hope for the best. I like the main female lead though she truly has the potential. I have no doubts that they will act well together.
LOL. I’ve never whined about WXY’s lack of works after the Double. Rather, I think he took too much shitty projects that have diluted the splendor he got from the Double. As much as I liked him in the Double and wished him a C version of K actor Lee Do-hyun, all his works after the Double almost proved to me he might be just a fluke. lol. Regardless of how talented and attractive he is, he can’t continue to shine through crappy project after crappy project non-stop.
Per low production values of the average C modern dramas, I don’t have high hope for this one. Good luck WXY ! I hope he will be landing another interesting project again.
Sameee. None of his dramas after the double sound or were interesting. Perfect match was terrible, the one with bai lu looks meh and I have no interest seeing 2 sibling-looking ppl romance each other. Wanted detective was not too bad but the plot and FL wasn’t impressive. The drama with xu ruohan and now this doesnt sound interesting at all. Just dud after dud. Im only looking forward to the gritty modern one je just finished filming… only that looks like sth he could exercise his acting chops with
