Tang Dynasty Investigative C-drama Unveil: Jadewind with Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue Release Full Trailer Ahead of Likely Premiere in Next Week or Two
So Youku is playing coy with giving an exact date but all airing rumors has Unveil: Jadewind with Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue being released either by the end of January this weekend or the beginning of February next week. I am excited but after watching the newly released trailer a little less hyped solely because the drama looks so much like The Wanted Detective released last year, and not just it stars Wang Xing Yue as well. The palace guards going out to investigate murder and mayhem with what seems like a supernatural twist is basically the same set up. Of course the nuances and plot will be different but for someone who was fairly addicted to The Wanted Detective I’ve not felt the urge yet for another same flavor drama. With that said, I’m just glad Bai Lu is in a drama with a male lead I like finally after her last two were so meh for me.

He looks exactly the same in all his dramas. I might check it out because of her.
The last scene in the trailer looked like a zombified anime character. The female lead seems more interesting than the male lead and the actual story seems pretty chilling. So seems interesting.
I’m just hoping it’s decent and entertaining. Chinese dramas are such huge letdowns. Being decent and entertaining is the highest bar I have for them. I can’t expect much, and I always end up disappointed.
People who say WXY looks the same in every drama are kind of annoying. He’s entirely at the mercy of the designers who handle his clothes, makeup, and overall styling. It’s not his fault that costume, makeup, and hair stylists choose to keep his look consistent, and the same thing happens to every Chinese actor and actress. Honestly, within the scope of “idol” dramas, they all end up looking the same to me.
WXY is looking to take on dramas beyond the usual “idol period” genre, but his boss, Yu Zheng, has different plans for him. He’s 23 years old, still young, with only a few dramas and opportunities so far, and he still has time to grow and hopefully do better.
Bai Lu always has the same look, but I can’t really fault her for that since, as far as I know, she’s not the one making those choices. Still, I do hold her accountable for not being able to act, convey emotions through facial expressions, or use her eyes effectively. After all the dramas she’s been in, she still hasn’t delivered. At this stage, as an experienced veteran, there’s really no excuse.
Bai Lu is also under Yu Zheng’s authority and control.
Shes Just NOT a good actress. Wooden, limited range and always dead behind the eyes. Shes actually better off as a fixed cast member on varieties. Yu zhengs charges are generally not that talented except for wu jiayi whom he loves to keep in the dungeon, wang xing yue and wu jinyan. The rest are really meh.
Liang Yong Qi is very good too imo and incredibly underrated…
Wow don’t know where your eyes are. So many times she has proven her acting, even in scenes where she had to cry, she cried in different ways that impressed her coworkers and directors, moving the audience as well. Then again yeah, she doesnt need to be validated by a good for nothing like you lol.

I’m looking forward to this premiere because of WXY and the genre but not excited. I might be if they got a fresh face for the FL. BL is BL though, still the same even this is a very different genre for her. I didn’t really see anything sparkling non-Bai Lu-ish. lol.
Hopefully at least, as someone brilliantly commented above, the writer and the PD are able to deliver an entertaining plot.
If you dont like the bai lu please don’t judge and i think you never watch any of her drama’s. Make your judgement after you watch her all drama.
Although I had trouble finishing ANY of her dramas, I’ve watched enough of BL to form my opinion. I checked out ALL her drama to see if she could change my perception about her. So far, I’m still standing by my comment above.
Can’t wait to see new movie my favorite and handsome actor Wang Xing Yue and she looks amazing
Plot looks interesting.plot is most important to me. Willing to spend money to watch at regular price eventhough as retiree gets to watch at discounted rates later on. Don’t know the the male lead. But had seen Bai Lu in that famous period movie where she jumped from city wall in red dress and was mute in earlier part of movie. Willing to give the cast chande to express their acting skills.
I disagree that Bai Lu is a bad actress. Maybe she is a bit wooden when doing serious formable characters, but she does cute and comedic roles well. She has good timing. I don’t think she is horrible in serious roles, but I do enjoy her more in comedies.
I’m looking forward to this one. I hope the stories are interesting and not obvious. I think C drama mysteries and historical dramas fair better than romances and fantasy C dramas when it comes to quality.
Bai Lu nails all her roles and I’m looking forward to this one as well. Hope WXY can meet her at the same level and gives the gravitas needed to be her ML.
