Wu Jin Yan and Wei Zhe Ming Cast in Hunan TV Period C-drama Feng Bu Qi to Kick Off Filming in Two Months March 2026
A new C-drama has been softly confirmed this week and it’s titled Feng Bu Qi (凤不栖) and is a sprawling war between various kingdoms and politics drama adapted from the novel Phoenix Empress. The leads will be Wu Jin Yan and Wei Zhe Ming, and fresh pairing and probably a selection that skews towards acting ability over buzzy stars. I’m glad this is the final casting as the male lead originally in discussion was Hou Ming Hao and I’m glad it’s not him because he’s crossed the over-exposed line for me last year with I believe four dramas aired. Filming will begin in March 2026 so right after the lunar new year holidays and I’m excited to see the first costume stills.
Nice to see this pairing. WZM is a much better actor than many who are more popular than he.
I agree he is. But hopefully the actual script plays out well because as good of an actor that he is most of his recent scripts or dramas have nearly flopped as male lead especially the historical roles. I’d say that one he did as second lead with yang zi might be his best performance thus far in a historical setting. He is always charming in modern roles though and are probably my favorite dramas from him in modern setting. Hoping for a good outcome.

I enjoyed plenty of Wei Zhe Ming CEO idol dramas, but I find him such a snoozefest in historical dramas, still I applaud him for levelling up in bigger dramas.
I’d rather see WZM than HMH. I can’t get into HMH. I only saw WZM in that drama with YZ. Even though he wasn’t the lead there but I thought he had screen presence and I wouldn’t mind seeing him as a lead.
Definitely seated for this pairing. I have a soft spot for both actor/actress, and hoping that script and directing will not fail them.
