Long siiiiiiiiigh, how is this even worth fighting over. Period C-drama Flower in Novoland is about to start filming in early November and has unofficially confirmed leads Zhang Jing Yi and Chen Zhe Yuan. This week his fandom started grumbling about billing order saying he should be top billed. Her fandom responded back that she’s a way bigger star with more hits under her belt so she is naturally top billed. His fandom then shot back that it’s not decided so they are merely he should be top billed because her hits drama all come from her male leads doing the heavy lifting. And so on and so forth, it’s basically each fandom trying to showcase why their stan is better than the other. It’s disappointing to see Chen Zhe Yuan’s fandom start it and do this once again as if they haven’t learned the lesson already.
Really childish and worthless for this
You can be last billed but if you are the breakout of the drama – you win still: so it’s the performance not the billing!!

Are we going to believe in this when the drama is not close to be confirmed yet? So far, it’s all rumours.
ZZY is a big girl with very powerful people behind her back. If her people do not want this project, they will not take it. It’s very simple.
I think there are people paying to do hate campaign on CZY by trying to ruin his reputation beyond repair. No Chinese actor/actress is safe. Everytime you read a negative rumour of a popular actor/actress it’s for sure the job of a well paid person who made it up. It’s a huge profitable business made by people who earn too well by simply making hate campaigns. It reminds me of sales and marketing people who earn their salaries plus bonus and commission based on performance’s results.
That’s why being a fan of a Chinese actor/actress equals a person who loves being stupidly stuck in suffering forever besides being ill with fanatism.
Agree with everything you said, however in this case ockoala should be a suspect too. Did a dive through all their posts about him this year and every single one is riddled with lies and defamation. They’ve been obsessed with ruining his reputation since the billing fiasco in Jan.
Negative gossip becomes confirmed news and if no negative gossip, they make it up.

Gossip like his apparent dilraba billing fight that was proven false, or the most recent one they posted about him being in a billing fight with ysx and how he lost the ml role in dual track to Gao, meanwhile there was never anything of the sort mentioned on weibo or literally anywhere else.
Heyu was actually the final ml confirmed not Gao. Just goes to show the kind of lies they spew here and how their readers eat it up as legit news.

I think CZY agency overestimated his popularity but to call him a loser in favor of an actress who got put in all main roles her agency could get despite having no popularity or stats to back her is a choice. She has a better record of dramas than him by far and her recent hit Blossoms of Adversity was hers, not the MLs. If anything the guy only contributed to people not watching it.

This is not like JJY’s case where the contract was already signed, or Dilireba’s where she clearly should be top billed. I think both of these actors are at the same level and ZJY isn’t a level above CZY where him/his team/fans wanting top billing is outrageous. This fight should be behind the scenes between the production and their teams though, where I’m sure billing order is often negotiated because it is a part of the industry. Teams seem to be really lazy now though and get fans to do a lot of the promotion/fighting etc. so his fans kicking up a fuss may just be what they want to get the project noticed or push him ahead.

Didn’t Blossoms in Adversity do well? She is first/equal billed with Hu Yitian and out of the two, she’s obviously the one who did the heavier lifting. Imo Chen Zheyuan is the one who relies on his female leads to do the lifting like in Hidden Love. He and his fandom are a disgrace in Cent.
Imo him, Zeng Shunxi and Hou Minghao are the same – beta male leads who will never break out.
Hip Minghe has some really good shows coming out. Whereas CZY can only get fellow c listers to work with him. Old women or newbies that don’t know to run like hell. But old Li Qin outsmarted him. Lmao.
I don’t think it’s wrong to fight for favorable conditions for your actor. It’s the job of the agency. This is quite a bit more reasonable since they debuted around the same time and probably are more on the same level in terms of standing in the industry. ZJY has had some small hits but nothing out of the park. She’s an okay actress, but she feels the same to me in every drama I’ve seen her in.
People are probably just tired of these CZY billing rumors/controversies because his agency tried to con JJY after she already signed a contract as top bill. Then tried to get first billing over Reba, whose status is obviously levels above his in terms of recognition, commercial value, etc.
He never tried to get first billing with dilraba. Those were all made up rumors by cnetz because of the previous billing controversy. koalasplayground is not a reliable news outlet, don’t take everything you read here at face value. 70 percent weibo gossip 29 percent lies and around 1 percent truth.
Also they didn’t debut around the same time. Her first role was in 2020/2021 backed by a top agency and immensely pushed.

Even if the Reba thing is untrue, what his agency tried to do with JJY is pretty underhanded. Again, I don’t think that’s on him. But here, even if his agency tries to get first billing here, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. Nothing is confirmed and it is up for negotiation. Not sure why it’s even news.

IMO, commercial value aside, both ZJY and CZY are definitely better actors than Reba. But that’s just my personal opinion as a drama fan. Investors see differently though. I do think fans would be more blessed if Reba just stayed focused on modeling and variety shows. LOL

Zhang jingyi was signed on to this drama since july/aug as the lead & heroine meanwhile zheyuan was just recently rumored as the ml. His fans NEVER started fighting for 1st billing, her fans instead did after his name was rumored and naturally so, as she was signed on to the drama first. his fans rather pushed for equal billing in defense after the synopsis for both characters was seen, listing his recent major achievements with his spy drama.
BTW his spy drama broke so many records for tv ratings and then opened with a solid douban score of 7 but ofcourse you wont post that because it doesnt fit your venomous agenda against him.

Tbh with how many articles Koala writes about Chen Zheyuan and his billing issues I would think she’s a Ju Jingyi fan, but she writes negative articles about her too. There were 2 producers for Sword and Fairy4. The first producer signed her on for first billing but then he ran off from the project at some point. A new producer took over and then signed a new contract for equal billing. This new contract was not accepted by her team which was why the drama took so long to air after production and filming. They couldn’t come to an agreement but had to broadcast in a hurry anyway before tencent’s sword and fairy 6, so Iqiyi eventually just went ahead with the second contract signed with the current producer and her agency did not like that.
How is this his agency’s fault or chen zheyuan’s fault, if anything it’s iqiyi’s fault. Zheyuan was actually bullied by her agency with that statement they put out, they basically used her fandom/traffic power to go after iqiyi and destroy his reputation in the process.
They also paid for a lot of black posts including the socalled billing issue with dilraba that never existed. Tencent dropped him from the project because there was so much protest from dilraba’s fandom after the fake script was posted, protest from readers of the novel that his features didnt suit the role and overall bad press around his casting with his ongoing billing controversy with jjy, there was no billing issue with dilraba.
Contrary to popular beliefs, his agency holds no power whatsover. They’re pretty much useless with barely any connections or even enough working staff. Chen zheyuan being the only relevant actor in the company should tell you everything you need to know. They literally just opened a studio for him in 2024, 7 years into his acting career. What kind of powerful agency is that lol! If you’re looking for companies that hold power, start with Zhang Jingyi’s agency.
Iqiyi holds shares in a lot of smaller companies, it doesn’t mean they fight their battles for them or all artists in these companies become “iqiyi princes”.
If that were really the case, Zheyuan would have blown up a long time ago. Notice how his first hit drama was under Youku. All the scripts and roles he got under iqiyi before his breakout with hidden love, were all bad. A socalled prince should be getting decent ips and good scripts no?
His first good projects under iqiyi were the recent dark night & dawn and the white olive tree. Most recently Fated Hearts and even that is a highly unpopular ancient novel with only the director being the selling point for investors.
Anyway Jujingyi and her team did what they had to do so it is what it is at the end of the day. However if you’re looking for someone to blame, focus on iqiyi and how they handled 2 different contracts not chen zheyuan or his agency.

It was an ensemble spy show. And I reviewed the ratings they were not that great. His fan base lies and over exaggerates. It did do great on cctv8. That’s one station. If his career is so great why can’t he get roles? With top tier actresses? Why has IQIYI cancelled White Olive Tree every month for a year? If his so on fire they’d be broadcasting it pronto. Why is he stuck doing these cheap low budget IQIYI crap instead in major dramas. And fated hearts is cheap. He has to wear the same three outfits over and over. They only have a few extras and a couple horses. Enough with the crap. Look at Wang Xingyue and Zhang Minghe and others around his age. The roles they are getting offered. Now compare to what he’s getting. The truth is based on the evidence. They only people that think he’s on fire are you twenty groupies that hang outside the studio everyday.

iqiyi also never cancelled white olive tree. it was pushed back to make way for his OTHER drama dark night and dawn to coinicide with national day on Sept 30 – Oct 7 as that was the reference point of the whole drama. only a fool would expect both his dramas to air in the same timeframe. I can assure you czy has better traffic than most of the flops from iqiyi aired this year. please try again with your delusions
Dark night and dawn’s ratings were also more than excellent with a 3.6% peak, exceeding over 100m live views in a single day and a 7 opening douban score. this is by all counts an excellent performance. cctv was the target audience and they achieved this and more. also ensemble or not it’s still his drama with majority of screentime and he’s billed first. COPE!

I’m also just calling things out as I see them. All posts about him on this blog have been mostly lies or weibo gossip presented as news, and it only creates a space where he’s constantly bashed in the replies. That’s just not right.
A personal blog doesn’t give one the right to manipulate facts, make assumptions or use their platform to push lies and gossip as international news. koala is still a writer with an audience. They owe readers the truth.

First I’m reading this blog for 14 years now. Not very much interested in C- Entertainment, since I’m Kdrama fan. And through Mrs Koala I also watched Japanese and Taiwanese dramas, too. Miss the old days dearly. I do watch C-dramas occasionally, most are not my cup of tea. I hate the backhanded propaganda used in a lot of them or I just chose badly C-dramas to watch. Again not my cup of tea. I don’t support dictatorship.

They had their investors meeting a couple of weeks ago and they announced several dramas that are to start filming and it wasn’t on list. Plus I thought he signed exclusive contract with IQIYI to only do content for them? He’s overrated. Her fans should be worried about fact he’s notorious womanizer that has flings with all his female co-stars that will let him. I feel horrible for Li Qin. He’s going to toss her aside for this girl. Within two days he will be openly seducing her. He’ll have his hands all over her. Really hope her team stops this.
