The I Need Romance franchise is coming back for a third whirl and this time they’ve lined up quite an eclectic and interesting main cast. I confess to only watching the first one through whereas I Need Romance 2012 lost me with a very unlikeable heroine right off the bat though I heard the story gets better later on. I … Continue reading →
With Pretty Boy (Bel Ami) off the the races, albeit slow out of the ratings gate, it means the drama whose time slot was scooped up by PB needs to start filming in earnest. Period K-drama Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation) starring Kim Hyun Joong and Im Soo Hyang released its script reading pictures this week which means this drama … Continue reading →
Normally I have a decent sixth sense about whether co-stars are falling in love or hooking up behind the scenes of a movie or drama. It’s not perfect but I do have eyes and often the clues are quite obvious. Which is why I, along with lots of drama fans of the Taiwanese idol drama Just You (Just Want to … Continue reading →
I have no clue what Kim Bum‘s agency King Kong Entertainment was thinking when it talked to the press today and revealed that Kim Bum and Moon Geun Young was set to return from Europe back to Korea this weekend. That’s pretty much asking the media hordes to descend on Incheon airport and make a tent family there over the … Continue reading →
The totally unexpected late arrival of two awesome episodes of Heirs/The Inheritors this week gives me hope that Marry Him If You Dare can get its act together for the final 4-episodes. It can’t be that hard to just explain things simply and let the four leads having some romancing (finally!) and then ship future Mi Rae back to either … Continue reading →
Heirs/The Inheritors is on a ratings tear this week. While episode 13 did a monster ratings leap past 20% on AGB, episode 14 continued the climb by breaking 22% while leaving its competitors Pretty Boy (6.1%) and Medical Top Team (6.0%) to battle it out for second place. It might even break 25% next week, apparently the ratings surged past … Continue reading →
I always need to LOL at Korean viewers and their propensity for prim and proper covering up in sageuks. I still remember the hullabaloo back in 2010 when Chuno premiered and poor Lee Da Hae got raked over the coals twice, one for a near-rape scene when she was accused of showing too much skin (whut?) and then later in … Continue reading →
I breathed a sigh of relief that the fantastic episode 13 of Heirs/The Inheritors did not result in one step forward and two steps back in episode 14. It wasn’t nearly as light and funny as episode 13 felt like a reprieve and time to savor the moment a bit, but all the characters took giant definitive steps forward and … Continue reading →
I think acting is a combination of talent and hard work. Some have talent and don’t need to put in as much hard work, while others learn by sheer willpower and experience. A lot of young stars (be it idols-turned-actors or just actors) tend to headline projects when they are not yet ready to carry the entire weight. Which is … Continue reading →
Oh Kim Eun Sook. Why you be taking my praise for episode 13 of Heirs/The Inheritors and immediately photo-bombing me with evidence that you’re about to lift a major OTP scene from Secret Garden and plop it right into this drama? Even worse is that I think I’ll end up liking it. Sigh, so torn between my brain that tells … Continue reading →
Wowsers, what a difference a week and a drama can make. This development definitely deserves a post of its own. With Secret ending last week and the arrival of Pretty Boy (Bel Ami), the ratings was up for grabs today and Heirs/The Inheritors made out like a bandit. The drama started off around 10% in ratings and was increasingly little … Continue reading →
Best episode of Heirs/The Inheritors EVER! I can’t believe I stuck to this drama for 13-episodes, itself quite a feat of endurance, and am finally rewarded with an action-packed episode that was funny and fast-paced. I’m not kidding, this episode had me laughing out loud so many times I lost count. Stuff happens all over the place in each of … Continue reading →
Ha Ji Won may have phenomenal chemistry with every one of her male leads, but some pairings are better than others and I have my favorites. My personal top two are Jo In Sung in What Happened in Bali and Lee Seung Gi in The King 2 Hearts. But her coupling with Joo Jin Mo is fast rocketing up the … Continue reading →
