This chapter was intense, hilarious, and heart pumping all the same time. It also marks the second close-but-not-yet encounter between Liu Fu Ling and Yun Ge, and also the second time Meng Jue and Yun Ge get too close for comfort. We learn more about the current precarious political climate between Liu Fu Ling and his three power-hungry Regents, and … Continue reading →
The King 2 Hearts, you officially own my heart. I love you, I love you, I love you. Wonky North Korean accents, hilariously over-the-top villain, and typical jerky male lead aside, the drama just works for me when I look at the big picture. Its subject matter is far-fetched but intriguing to contemplate, the story moves fast but takes time … Continue reading →
Ah, what a shift in focus and a realignment of expectation can do for drama watching enjoyment. While some dramas just objectively suck or rock, a few straddle that nebulous region where pleasure can be derived as long as what the viewer wants coincides with what the drama delivers. I still stand by my first impression that episode 1 of … Continue reading →
Lee Jun Ki successfully held his fan meeting in Yokohama this past weekend, and by the size and fervor of the audience crowd, his two year absence has not dimmed his star power. When I saw the pictures from the FM, I just got this vibe that Jun Ki is really happy to be back performing. It’s like someone taking … Continue reading →
In a shocking and unexpected reversal of expectations stemming from the previews released of both Rooftop Prince and The King 2 Hearts, I have now switched over my watching allegiance. I am completely IN LOVE with TK2H after just one episode. I love the two main characters, and even the side characters are fascinating and show so much potential depth. … Continue reading →
You all know how excited I was for Rooftop Prince, so it’s with a heavy heart that I have to share my first impression that episode 1 was derivative and lackluster. The characterizations were painted in painfully broad and extreme strokes, the narrative was choppy, and the acting was overall pretty flat. The story actually reminds me of a mash … Continue reading →
I wouldn’t be surprised if Yoon Eun Hye picks a HK movie as her next project. She attended this past weekend’s 6th annual Asia Film Awards and presented an award with veteran HK superstar Andy Lau. When asked by the local press, she revealed that she would love a chance to work with a HK director. I guess it all … Continue reading →
This chapter of Da Mo Yao is stunning. It’s like Tong Hua lulled us into complacency thinking the story was now all about plotting and skirting political landmines, when in truth there is yet another action-packed shocker to be had. This also marks the final turning point for Huo Qu Bing in realizing his future path. Chang An may have … Continue reading →
The currently filming C-drama Love Actually with Lee Da Hae, Joe Cheng, and Li Yi Feng released a first batch of officials stills to whet our appetite. It looks like the drama will be hitting on all the sweet spots for its lead actors. Da Hae plays a plucky chef who needs to support her little brother and this becomes … Continue reading →
The longer Yun Ge stays in Chang An, the more she’s going to get involved with the current political landscape of the capital. Different than when her parents lived there, when the Emperor wielded absolute power, right now there is a delicate balance between Liu Fu Ling and his three Regents. While Yun Ge came to find her Ling gege … Continue reading →
Ever had the vapors from watching a trailer? Yup, it just happened to me. The just released hot-off-the-mixing-room teaser trailer for one the biggest budgeted period C-dramas of 2012 just hit, and I almost swooned from the intensity mixed with the shock. Huang Xiaoming has officially stopped being smirky and smarmy and decided to forget that he’s one ridiculously gorgeous … Continue reading →
With the surprising but not undeserved ratings success of SETTV‘s daily idol drama Inborn Pair, the network is planning to continue the same streak by following up IP with another daily idol drama. Filming has already commenced for Set Chocolate (愛上巧克力 or Fall in Love with Chocolate) starring Vanness Wu and Joanne Zheng. It’s been years since I’ve seen Joanne … Continue reading →
