Buzz is a priceless thing and even all the water armies in the war and purchased searches can only buoy it a bit but can’t sustain it unlike the organic thing. June 2024 buzz goes to underdog hit The Double while mainstream big budget C-drama The Tale of Rose, reportedly the most expensive production filmed in 2023 due to the … Continue reading →
Most K-dramas however huge in ratings or buzz during the airing invariably dies down after it ends and other than diehard fans people move on. It’s rare to have a hit drama with a long tail and those feel like once a decade special occurrences. I say this because after Queen of Tears, which set the all time tvN ratings … Continue reading →
I’ve been exposed to too many C-drama unannounced air drops I’m just glad a streaming C-drama isn’t a giant elephant image that dropped on us announced lol. Air drops also don’t mean the drama is sucky and the platform wants to just squirrel it away though sometimes that is the case, it really depends and some reasons are due to … Continue reading →
It’s almost time to say goodbye to C-drama The Double and I am ready to finish this with a flourish without being sad to let it go. It’s already episode 36 of the run out of 40 episodes and the grand revenge plan has been satisfying along the way and prepped for the grand finale. In some ways, female lead … Continue reading →
Woo hoo, finally a coming K-drama I’m wildly excited about. Scheduling on tvN has confirmed that romance K-drama Is It Coincidence will be airing next month on July 22, 2024. It’s a high school to years later second chance romance starring Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeob that is based on a webtoon. And like the recent two year … Continue reading →
It’s been a good couple of months in C-drama land, I feel like there was always a drama to check out and/or watch since The Legend of Shen Li arrived in March, or maybe earlier since In Blossom became a dark horse hit. So The Double is ending this week and I’m glad there is news of upcoming dramas on … Continue reading →
So this is one of those super fun rumors that get the speculation going and also could be a gamechanger type project when it comes out. C-ent insiders are saying that Hu Ge and Zhao Li Ying are quietly in discussions to work together. I’m guessing its a movie since neither seem inclined to do more dramas unless it’s a … Continue reading →
This was a fast moving averted scandal for C-actor Luo Yun Xi and can be a useful example of how to respond to netizen criticism. This week Luo Yun Xi was surrounded by fans and paparazzi as he was leaving the airport and his team led him to a car that was mistaken for the company vehicle. As they got … Continue reading →
The current Louis Vuitton menswear creative designer Pharrell Williams may be my least fave in how he interprets the evolves the brand but he’s certainly popular. I’m forever at Marc Jacobs fangirl and Virgil Abloh left the world too early for his genius. This week was the LV Menswear show in Paris and in attendance was top K-actor Gong Yoo … Continue reading →
Well I did not follow this news when it broke last year in September 2023 but it certainly helps certain aspects of what I see onscreen make sense now. The Double is Yu Zheng‘s latest hit making drama and he’s managed to resurrect his own actress Wu Jin Yan and elevate his actor Wang Xing Yue, and I thought also … Continue reading →
I loved Song Joong Ki to pieces but in nearly a decade he hasn’t gotten a K-drama female lead I’ve liked off the bat the way I freaked out with happiness when he and Moon Chae Won were cast in Nice Guy together. Shin Hyun Bin was awful in Reborn Rich and Jeon Yeo Bin grew on me in Vincenzo, … Continue reading →
So apparently this is much more obvious in videos and a lot funnier, but overall just a small thing that petite ladies in entertainment have to deal with. Zhao Li Ying is known as very tiny in height and physique but she manages in dramas to deliver strong onscreen presence despite her petite frame. This week she was at a … Continue reading →
I thought Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact, regardless of the story or acting, would at least be visually beautifully and engrossing enough to keep watching. Alas I couldn’t make it pass a few episodes even on the pretty and there was indeed so much pretty. But what looked good on stills did not create a moving tableau that kept … Continue reading →
