Dream High is wrapping up in two weeks, and I’m rather sad to see it come to an end. Perhaps there is enough story to make a longer drama, but in my heart I know that 16 episodes is likely just the right length. I think pretty soon all the outside issues will be dealt with, and the kids will … Continue reading →
Following on the heels of a box-office successful Korean remake of the iconic John Woo movie A Better Tomorrow (Korean title Mujeokja, starring Song Seung Heon and Joo Jin Mo), a second remake of another John Woo movie is in the works. Director John H. Lee (A Moment to Remember, Into the Fire) will be reuniting with his AMTR star … Continue reading →
News flash: SBS has decided to premiere Midas on Tuesday of next week, since Athena: Goddess of War preempted one episode due to an on set injury and will be airing its 20th and final episode next Monday. This news got me scrambling in earnest to actually read up on the drama, rather than snigger or swoon at the various … Continue reading →
The Captain of the Geun-Geun ship is inviting all passengers to dine with me. Black tie only, and you have to bring your powers of conjecture, deduction, and persuasion. The crack team in the discussion forum is entertaining me silly with their masterful CSI abilities (carry on, sailors!), so I simply must reward everyone with some GG goodies. Bringing photos … Continue reading →
I thought about splitting this into two posts, but I realized it was really destined to be shown together. Hyun Bin and his Manchu (Late Autumn) co-star Tang Wei grace the cover and inside pages of Vogue Korea, at the same time that his Secret Garden co-star Ha Ji Won transforms back into her glamorous actress self for the pages … Continue reading →
Episode 14 of My Princess was a near perfect pre-finale episode of a rom-com. I’d be hard-pressed to find a single flaw in this episode, whether it was narrative progression, acting, or emotional connection. Qualitatively, it might just be the best episode of MP yet, and I’ll explain why in a bit. Just know that you’ll likely laugh, sniffle some … Continue reading →
The upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama The Thorn Birds released its first batch of drama poster and stills, and boy am I underwhelmed. I can’t quite figure out what the drama is about just yet (something about a woman persevering through adversity and rising above the odds with her strong spirit), but I do know that the stylist who dressed both … Continue reading →
Dream High is literally and figuratively soaring these days, with a continued consistently developed storyline plus a very addicting and snappy execution. I still don’t have a clue who will be K, or who will end up a couple in the main love triangle, but I do think that Hye Mi is discovering that she has the stirrings of feelings for … Continue reading →
What did I say in my post about the video preview for episode 13? Ah yes, I said I was not going to jump to conclusions and will watch the episode before deciding whether I need to bust out the knives or the bucket. Ladies (and any gentlemen) – take out your buckets and get ready for some drooling! My … Continue reading →
I may not be in the right demographic for this ad campaign (as much as I’d like to believe that I’m still 18) by Spris to sell stylin’ kicks to teenagers all over Korea, but I can happily enjoy a wonderfully age- and tone-appropriate concept. Having real young adult entertainers with bright peppy personalities like Kim Soo Hyun and T-ara’s … Continue reading →
A good thing about having some time to digest and accept a drama’s shortcomings is that I don’t feel as emotionally vested anymore. I can enjoy it, but when it fails to deliver, I’m not as blue in the face. Not sure if folks will like where My Princess is headed, but at least it appears to be setting itself … Continue reading →
Okay people, here’s your preview for tomorrow’s episode 13 of My Princess. At the risk of starting my potential ranting and raving early based on the written (and now video) preview, I might as well just chill and wait for the actual episode to air. Unlike the collective horror that was reading the written preview for episode 15 of M3 … Continue reading →
In my drama-watching lifetime, I have only shelled out the dough to buy a director’s cut DVD edition of two dramas: City Hall and Tamra the Island. I haven’t regretted either purchase, and those two babies sit on the top of my shelf and cheer me up whenever I get frustrated watching a bad drama. A new arrival will soon … Continue reading →
