Okay, the netizen pundits got two out of three right so that’s not bad. The Big Three network year end Drama Awards took place last night for MBC and tonight on the 31st for both SBS and KBS. I’ll do a separate post on the fashion and attendees which were pretty packed this year but on the top award winning … Continue reading →
Gong Hyo Jin is on a much deserved promotional tour after finishing the successful KBS drama When the Camellia Blooms, first with this lovely Elle Korea spread. Mark my words, she’s getting the Daesang at the KBS Drama Awards and will be her first drama awards Daesang after winning plenty of Top Excellence and Excellence Actress awards for dramas including … Continue reading →
The last dating news of 2019 came on the 30th of December with rumors swiftly confirmed that DBSK duo member Changmin was no longer a bachelor. SM Entertainment admitted that Changmin has been dating a non-celeb girlfriend who he met through mutual friends. This would have been massive news like ten years ago during the DBSK heyday with fangirls collectively … Continue reading →
This is likely the last celeb wedding of 2019 and it’s quite a lovely way to cap off what has been a down year in K-ent. Actor Lee Wan married pro golfer Lee Bo Mi in a sweet and traditional Catholic ceremony in Seoul this week, after Christmas but before New Year during the height of holiday season. K-ent was … Continue reading →
I’m in K-drama heaven right now with two weekend dramas capturing all my attention so I’m not as anxiously awaiting the upcoming releases. The first 2020 new K-drama arrives next Monday on January 6th, the second season of SBS medical hit Romantic Teacher, Doctor Kim 2. With Han Suk Kyu returning as the sage mentor, this time he teachers youngsters … Continue reading →
It’s week three of tvN drama Crash Landing on You and I am sooooooo happy that this year neither Christmas nor New Year’s lands on the weekend where this drama would be preempt for holiday programming. I don’t think I can survive a preemption because I’m barely surviving the weekly wait now. The third week episodes continue rising in ratings, … Continue reading →
It’s the rare and sweet showing for a very private and low key couple. Married TW-stars Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo have been married for three years and have a two year old daughter. This week Ruby posted two pictures of her husband Wallace Huo celebrating his 40th birthday. Even more sincere was the pictures of the two show them … Continue reading →
I’m waiting for the Big Three K-drama year end awards show but over in C-ent this week the stars were out in force at the Star Awards. The usual three big name actresses Yang Mi, Zhao Li Ying, and Dilraba Dilmurat shared the stage together in a rare occurrence, and the three also went with very similar hued but different … Continue reading →
The tripling of ratings in three weeks is something to write about. SBS Fri-Sat drama Hot Stove League premiered on December 13th with a super low 3.3% AGB nationwide ratings. It’s since only gone up and the most recent episode hot 10.1%, that’s so amazing nowadays. Starring Namgong Min and Park Eun Bin, the drama is a feel good underdog … Continue reading →
The Itaewon neighborhood connotes youth and energy in Seoul and the upcoming jTBC drama Itaewon Class combines dreams and revenge into one story. Park Seo Joon plays a restaurant entrepreneur aiming to take down the rival restaurant chain run by a former bully classmate’s father. He’s a juvenile released convict so clearly has an uphill battle to climb and supporting … Continue reading →
Honestly, the agency doth protest too much. If it wasn’t for Hwang Jung Eum‘s agency releasing a statement this week warning K-netizens to stop discussing and speculating about the actress having gotten more plastic surgery I wouldn’t even have checked out her new pictures. But a camera is a camera, just talking a picture and it’s hard to deny that … Continue reading →
Man, was Nirvana in Fire really that long ago? It’s one of the best dramas from any country I’ve ever watched and remains vivid in my mind and heart of what epic storytelling paired with excellent acting and directing can produce. Then teen actor Wu Lei was just a kid, squarely a gawky teen playing a gawky teen role that … Continue reading →
It’s that time of the year for the television networks to reward the successful dramas and shows for 2019. I have a sense of who is going to win the Daesang (Grand Prize) but it’s interesting to see what the domestic viewers are polling. K-netizens think that Gong Hyo Jin will win for KBS drama When the Camellia Blooms, Han … Continue reading →
