Landing the cover of W Korea is quite an honor for the high brow fashion publication, and the May cover model certainly has earned the sartorial honor. Song Joong Ki is front and center in front of a tree for W Korea, modeling a singularly unimpressive plaid pattern sweater and looking a combination of pensive and perturbed. I can’t figure … Continue reading →
This is flat out the most surprising breaking news in K-ent this year, and honestly I’m happy that it’s a piece of happy news. Currently serving military actor-singer Yoochun is getting married this fall when he’s discharged! News broke that he was tying the knot in September of 2017 and his agency C-JeS swiftly confirmed the reports. Normally this type … Continue reading →
It’s nice for a brand to have the perfect spokesperson and to put their money where their mouth is. Skincare line The Body Shop has always been eco and animal friendly in their products and this week held an event in Seoul to promote awareness against animal testing in consumer products. Hear hear! Front and center at the event was … Continue reading →
Consider me once again wholly impressed with TW-actor Mark Chao‘s depth and range, a good 8 years after he blew me away in his acting debut performance as the co male lead in hit drama Black & White back in 2009. What was starting to feel like a one hit wonder performance finally feels properly displayed again placed next to … Continue reading →
I’m so excited for upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Suspicious Partner, regardless of the leading lady casting carousel and the litany of title changes. I never got invested in currently airing sageuk Saimdang: Light’s Diary and judging from the steady around 10% ratings neither did the audience despite the big name return of Lee Young Ae from a decade long acting … Continue reading →
K-actor Gong Yoo‘s high flying popularity in the past year is coming to the big international stage as his agency revealed the star recently sat down for a CNN interview. It’s no surprise and totally deserved recognition as his movie Train to Busan was the top grossing movie in South Korea in 2016, and his drama Goblin broke records as … Continue reading →
It’s a ballsy for MBC to go for drama posters that don’t show any of the lead character’s faces, but then again these are probably teaser posters and it does a good job at that. My interest is piqued by the contrasting posters, one with two royals holding a mast with their backs to each other, and then separate solo … Continue reading →
I have a feeling that Yang Mi and her performance in the recently concluded mega hit fantasy romance C-drama Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms (Eternal Love) will actually get better with time. Most dramas and performances don’t age well, and some can’t even stand up to a second watch. But so far into my second watch of … Continue reading →
The financial outlook remains rather dire for K-dramas, with the steady decline in television viewers as well as advertising revenue. Pre-produced dramas with an eye towards live airing in China is at a standstill due to the beef over THAAD so it feels like the walking dead in K-ent as dramas continue to be made but there’s no cure in … Continue reading →
The passing of veteran actress Kim Young Ae was a somber and sad news to start the week, but she had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for two years and I hope she’s finally peacefully at rest. She gave a series of final interviews in recent months to one publication, conducted over multiple sessions due to her health. In it … Continue reading →
This isn’t a huge breaking news but still a nice update for fans of one of Korea’s most famous young actresses. Moon Geun Young‘s agency updated this week that the talented actress is making a full recovery after undergoing four successive surgeries in early February for compartment syndrome. She experienced severe pain in her right arm during performances for the … Continue reading →
Recently premiered MBC Wed-Thurs drama Radiant Office has been less than successful in ratings, and frankly audience feedback hasn’t been positive either. Not sure what’s not working since I’m not watching but I’m definitely keen to usher it off and welcome next drama the sageuk Ruler: Master of the Mask with my baby boy Yoo Seung Ho. The fact that … Continue reading →
Normally I’m not a fan of the amber-hued pictorials since it’s usually done in an edgy way that comes across as pretentious. In the case of this 1st Look photo spread with high school senior and actress Kim Yoo Jung, there’s a throwback melancholy that I love when paired with her recent ups and downs. Kim Yoo Jung reached the … Continue reading →
