It’s T-minus one day before the arrival of high profile and highly anticipated fantasy K-drama Legend of the Blue Sea. Unless one has been living in a cave the last few months it’s no surprise that You From Another Star and Producer screenwriter Park Ji Eun has brought together top Hallyu stars Jeon Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho to … Continue reading →
There hasn’t been a single promo mishap for Legend of the Blue Sea yet, not that I’m rooting for it to stumble but all this continuous pretty does worry me that expectations are not sky high. The silver lining is that the drama is premiering this Wednesday November 16th so whatever is coming is right around the corner. The official … Continue reading →
It’s date goals now from the production of Legend of the Blue Sea, taunting us mere mortals and/or singletons with the specter of couple perfection. The steady stream of new drama stills continues onward, this time bringing together mermaid Jeon Ji Hyun with her modern conman fated lover played by Lee Min Ho. They wander the shopping center, bike through … Continue reading →
Whatever screenwriter has Park Ji Eun has in store for her second fantasy themed K-drama Legend of the Blue Sea, it will certainly involve lots and lots of active acting from leading lady Jeon Ji Hyun. I thought she was the heart and soul of alien-movie star romance drama You From Another Star but she did merit some get some … Continue reading →
It takes a very confident actress to try for a role as demanding and fantastical as a mermaid, especially one spanning centuries from Joseon era to the modern day. Jeon Ji Hyun excels at confidence, even if wholly substantiated from hot air like her top star character in You From Another Star. She manages to bring the vulnerability and decency … Continue reading →
Jeon Ji Hyun has cornered the actress market on sassy and doesn’t look to relinquish the crown anytime soon judging from the previews showing her mermaid character giving Lee Min Ho‘s conman attitude in Legend of the Blue Sea. It’s only fitting that screenwriter Park Ji Eun uses this opportunity to reunite Jeon Ji Hyun with her most classic costar … Continue reading →
I’ve tried not to make too many comparisons of Legend of the Blue Sea with screenwriter Park Ji Eun‘s last mega hit drama You From Another Star, but with the latest drama still release it fairly echoes a major plot point of YFAS. Leads Jeon Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho narratively spend most of the drama in the modern … Continue reading →
Yay, new preview for Legend of the Blue Sea! Anything to wash away the muck and grime from the disappointment that is recently concluded Moon Lovers is fine by me. The third teaser is out and this one takes a contrasting vibe – showing us serious Lee Min Ho as a Joseon magistrate before abruptly cutting away to his modern day … Continue reading →
I never expected a mermaid themed K-drama could be so enthrall me to the point of avid anticipation. I chalk it up to Jeon Ji Hyun, she’s beautiful enough to portray a fantasy mermaid of lore, and has the indelible screen presence to sell a character grounded in extreme possibility. New stills are out for the leads of Legend of the … Continue reading →
Much can be said about Legend of the Blue Sea being over-hyped, and certainly it’s harder to meet expectations when the interest is so high. I was underwhelmed by most of the writing in You From Another Star but I did appreciate that it took risks and went for a story about a top star in love with an immortal … Continue reading →
The beauty of Jeon Ji Hyun is going to be tested or affirmed once again in upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Legend of the Blue Sea. And the answer is fast pointing to the latter, since playing a mermaid requires much salty water basking and so far she’s managed the feat of looking both ethereal and sultry. The teaser character posters … Continue reading →
Popular things cost more and are reasoned to be worth the price premium, so said premium would conceivably be doubled if it’s double the popularity to be acquired. News out of China says that upcoming SBS drama Legend of the Blue Sea is reportedly opening the bid for Chinese streaming rights at a whopping half a million per episode, with … Continue reading →
I figured Legend of the Blue Sea would be Jeon Ji Hyun‘s chance to cosplay as a mermaid. It’s not the first time K-dramas have presented this fantasy role, Jo Boa did a wonderful mermaid job in the wacky Surplus Princess, but that was cable and this is taking mermaid K-drama style to the big leagues in a prime time SBS … Continue reading →
