I thought maybe my inexplicable excitement for Dr. Stranger was the result of my last crack drama ending in Bride of the Century and nothing on my plate currently that captures my full attention. But with so many K-dramas line-up on the starting gate for this week’s premiere central I’m still really looking forward to Dr. Stranger so my anticipation for … Continue reading →
Okay, I’m totally ready for my allergy to Lee Jong Seok to get cured. Not sure it will, but if it happens after I watch Dr. Stranger then so be it. I still think he looks weird but I’m quite liking his character in this drama and a good character plus performance can always win me over. The production of … Continue reading →
I like Kang Sora a lot because she’s one of the few among the young actresses that doesn’t rely on the cute or the charm to buoy her acting. That’s not to say she’s not cute or charming but merely an appreciation for how she acts first and then her natural ease on the eyes is like the cherry on … Continue reading →
I find myself increasingly interested in the upcoming SBS drama Dr. Stranger genuinely because of the plot. It sounds so wacky but might be wacky enough to work. Lee Jong Seok plays a South Korean born but North Korean educated genius surgeon who escapes the regime and ends up working in a top notch hospital in Seoul. He’s been recruited … Continue reading →
All I have to say about the upcoming SBS drama Dr. Stranger is that it feels rather haphazard and whiplashy in terms of the sudden transitions between moods. The second video preview is out and this one features only Lee Jong Seok and Jin Se Yeon. In the drama, Jin Se Yeon plays two characters – the first is Lee … Continue reading →
I may be anemic to Lee Jong Seok – har har, can’t help but crack a vampire-related joke when it comes to him – but I’m definitely checking out Doctor Stranger when it arrives in early May on SBS. It’s going up against Big Man on KBS with Kang Ji Hwan, who is one of my all-time favorite leading men, but I’m keeping … Continue reading →
I’m still waiting for someone to convince me of the appeal of Lee Jong Seok. Back when School 2013 aired I thought he and Kim Woo Bin would forever be popular actors I would never find interesting enough to watch. I don’t need cookie cutter good looks, far from it really, but I do need my actors to have some … Continue reading →
I’ve been following along with Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation) intermittently. It’s not a super bad drama but definitely super wonky what with the scriptwriter switch around episode 10 then second male lead Kim Jae Wook quitting as well as supporting actor Song Jae Rim getting written off for a few episodes and then brought back again. The story felt … Continue reading →
Casting news waxes and wanes and last week was a particularly busy week for K-dramas. It’s always the male leads that garner more attention but there can’t be a drama without a female lead so it’s time to see how the Spring pairings are shaping up on the ladies side of things. First up is my most anticipated SBS cop … Continue reading →
Next week Pretty Boy ends which means the long in production Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation) with Kim Hyun Joong finally sees the light of day. I’m actually very intrigued both in terms of the story as well as whether this drama has a chance to put a dent in the runaway success of You From Another Star. Normally big-budget … Continue reading →
The cast of the upcoming 1930’s period K-drama Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation) held a press conference last weekend to start drumming up positive interest early for the big-budgeted drama and I can’t say it was a bad idea. Even if it turns out to be a hot mess if more people tune in to check it out the odds … Continue reading →
I’m pleasantly surprised by how good the cast of the upcoming period K-drama Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation or Generation of Youth) looks in character. KBS trotted out the sprawling cast yesterday for a drama promotional press conference, which is about 5 weeks too early compared to normal pre-premiere drama press conference schedules. This early launch of promotion for this … Continue reading →
This isn’t going to come as a surprise to folks who read my last post about he upcoming KBS drama Age of Feeling (Inspiring Generation) but it’s a relief to have confirmation either way. Second female lead Kim So Eun has dropped the drama due to scheduling conflicts, what with the drama pushed back almost 3 months from its initial … Continue reading →
