I feel like the lede for this article about ratings is less the competition and more whether the drama has the allure to bring in its own respective set of viewers. This Friday the SBS Fri-Sat time slot started Now, We are Breaking Up after the conclusion of One: The Woman last week and the first episode brought in 6.4% … Continue reading →
It hurts my drama loving heart to have seen so much talented wasted so far and I wish these young actresses came of age a decade ago when there was actually good female lead sageuk roles and amazing scripts. The year of 2021 was supposed to the arrival of the grown up child actress talents and their headlining role in … Continue reading →
There is a new poster and preview out for MBC sageuk The Red Sleeve Cuff that will join the other sageuks airing with SBS in Lovers of the Red Sky and KBS with The King’s Affection. It’s so rare these days to have the Big Three all have simultaneously airing sageuks which was more common a decade ago when there … Continue reading →
Sageuk romances are by nature restrained and less is said/done is more presentation due to the characters living in an historical era of emphasis on etiquette and form. The upcoming MBC drama The Red Sleeve Cuff seems to be taking that to the extreme, it’s sooooooo implied that the new poster above seems to have court lady Lee Se Young … Continue reading →
The fall of sageuk has officially started this week with the premiere of SBS drama Lovers of the Red Sky (Red Sky) which is NOT a traditional sageuk in any sense of the genre, but up next is MBC drama The Red Sleeve Cuff which looks super traditional. It deals with the love story and politics behind King Jeongjo and … Continue reading →
KBS had a sageuk this year with River Where the Moon Rises and SBS is preparing to air Hong Chun Gi (Red Sky) in the summer, not to be left out MBC is prepping a traditional sageuk drama adapted from a novel. It’s called The Red Sleeve Cuff and is a novel chronicling the rise of a court lady to … Continue reading →
The year isn’t over just yet, but it’s certainly countdown time as Christmas is both that magical holiday and the one that starts the single digit trek towards new year’s day. Christmas 2020 will either be business as usual for you or totally different, either way may it be merry and safe and filled with comfort to all. Lots of … Continue reading →
My Mon-Tues found an unassuming gem that is MBC drama Kairos and my appreciation for its magnificence really hits home today knowing that it’s over. This is less missing a drama I loved for more emotional reasons and more missing a great story, a consummate storyteller, knowing that I won’t have another installment next week. The low ratings don’t bother … Continue reading →
I have recommended plenty of K-dramas that started off well and fell apart, and sometimes so horribly it’s like falling off a cliff, getting revived only to be smashed to pieces again. It’s just the worst because you invest so much so the disappointment is magnified. This year’s most underrated drama is likely going to be MBC Mon-Tues thriller Kairos, … Continue reading →
MBC has been bottom of the ratings barrel for so long that I’ve really stopped paying much attention to its ability to deliver dramas worth watching. Consider me even more impressed with recently premiered Mon-Tues drama Kairos, currently with 5-episodes aired. It’s so good, like a tightly plotted thriller I would expect to find on OCN mixed with the layer … Continue reading →
Life’s been insanely crazy for me work wise and news wise around the world, I totally forgot that this Wednesday was the premiere for my baby boy Yoo Seung Ho‘s new police thriller drama Memorist. I’ll rectify that this weekend with a catch up of the first two episodes but for those who checked out episode 1, how was it? … Continue reading →
My memory gets worse with age, sigh, so how nice would it be to have a photographic memory. But not so good what Yoo Seung Ho‘s character has in the upcoming tvN drama Memorist – he can see the memory of any person he touches. That’s way too much information and a conceit done in K-dramas before but with different … Continue reading →
My boy Yoo Seung Ho is coming back to the small screen next month, woo hoo! This time he’s playing both a detective and a mind reader, the latter of which is definitely useful for being the former. tvN Wed-Thurs drama Memorist released the first teaser this week showing some swat team action, beat down, Yoo Seung Ho saluting his … Continue reading →
