Grown up child actor Yoo Seung Ho is checking off nearly every next gen K-drama leading lady. His next drama Memorist will costar Lee Se Young and the two look intense during the script reading. He’s also worked with Jo Bo Ah for My Strange Hero, Chae Soo Bin in I’m Not a Robot, and Kim So Hyun in the … Continue reading →
I don’t think they look alike or even have the same acting styles but in the early days of their career I kept getting Lee Se Young and Chae Soo Bin confused. Probably because they were always playing the bitchy or mean second female lead around the same time period, but now both have gotten their female lead breaks and … Continue reading →
This Friday heralds the arrival of new SBS medical drama Doctor John, taking over the Fri-Sat time slot from period drama Nokdu Flower and afterwards will be followed by Vagabond. The drama posters are out and rather illusionary, with the top poster showing him in a proverbial glass box. Is he in a glass box of pain, or does being … Continue reading →
Sometimes I complain that a drama is being stingy with its promos but upcoming SBS medical drama Doctor John is going the overboard route with good reason. It’s not getting the buzz from a high profile cast and honestly medical dramas are a dime-a-dozen these days so better to just whet everyone’s appetite to check it out and hope the … Continue reading →
I thought Ji Sung was playing a genius doctor in upcoming SBS Sat-Sun drama Doctor John but looks like he’ll also have a stint as a prisoner judging by this set of new drama stills. He looks good either way, serious and much too smexy. Joining him in Doctor John will be Lee Se Young trying to look older than … Continue reading →
It’s been over ten years but the wait was worth it to see Ji Sung don his white coat and scrubs again. I became a Ji Sung fan after his New Heart and that’s still one of my fave medical dramas. He’s playing a different kind of doctor this time in the upcoming SBS drama Doctor John, with him and … Continue reading →
Medical K-dramas are not as ubiquitous these last two years as it was in nearly a decade prior where a viewer couldn’t help but trip over at least one medical drama airing in nearly every time slot from all the networks. Now we have two coming on prime time with KBS premiering Doctor Prisoner this month, and now SBS is … Continue reading →
Cable network tvN has a new record holder in premiere ratings in the Mon-Tues time slot, a quick one-up from the previous holder just six months ago. Sageuk drama The Crowned Clown (a remake of the movie Masquerade) launched today with 5.7%, breaking the premiere record of 100 Days My Prince with D.O. and Nam Ji Hyun which got 5.028%. … Continue reading →
I’m still working through my final take on the K-drama adaptation of movie The Beauty Inside from a few weeks ago and now another movie-to-drama adaptation is headed our way. tvN will premiere The Crowned Clown in the first week of January 2019, an adaptation of the critically acclaimed and box office hit 2012 movie The Masquerade with Lee Byung … Continue reading →
The movie looks gripping and packed with star power in a good way with leads Jang Dong Gun and Ryu Seung Ryong combining both billing weight and acting acclaim. Thriller movie 7 Days of Night held its VIP movie premiere this week and in attendance was a lot of famous faces that speaks to the breadth of connections of the … Continue reading →
It takes a combination of luck and ability to land a supporting drama role that steals the lead thunder, and to do so in an especially bad K-drama. Lee Se Young already had her first leading lady role in The Best Hit last year before she signed on as a supporting role for Hwayugi (A Korean Odyssey) but she really … Continue reading →
My Lee Seung Gi has been freed! Like his character Song Oh Gong with the geumganggo magical bracelet binding him, the ending of Hwayugi feels like he’s taken off the shackles and can move on to better things but also knowing he’s tried his best. He arrived late at the drama wrap party so wasn’t snapped by the media but … Continue reading →
I had two opinion changes last December with two young K-actresses that I never connected with but changed my mind after their most recent roles. The first was Chae Soo Bin in I am Not a Robot as she won me over with a very warm performance. The second and even more impressive is Lee Se Young with a supporting … Continue reading →
