Written Preview for Episode 9 of Big

Well the written preview for episode 9 of Big certainly starts to shed light on the mystery of the connection between the two male leads. I’m actually hoping this will send the mystery unraveling at hyper speed rather than dribs and drabs, though I am wanting more Kyung Jae-Da Ran married couple cuteness before the inevitable hammer of angst hits. While my theory may end up being correct on some elements, I still think no one has figured this whole thing out and the Hong Sisters have more twists up their sleeve. Which is fine by me. What’s not fine is knowing I am counting down episodes now and hoarding this experience of loving and watching this drama for the next 4 weeks.

Written preview for episode 9:

Kyung Jae has this premonition that his soul is going to return to his own body and so he and Da Ran give up the honeymoon and hurry to the hospital. On the other hand, Yoon Jae’s mom learns that the other person in the accident with Yoon Jae is Kang Kyung Joon and is stunned that it is the boy Yoon Jae has been searching for in the past.

  1. Thanks thanks thanks!

I am looking forward to YJ’s oma looking STUNNED after all the disapproving faces she has been giving our not-in-love-yet-but-eventually-will-be-when-everyone-is-legal birds.

  2. Wow… Thank you koala unni… However, I am disappointed due to I want to see them in Honeymoon… I bet KY will spoil DR and make it us swoon…

  3. Thanks!! Can’t wait to see if THS will come up with a completely, utterly surprising reason on why YJ is searching for KJ and the connection between them, i.e. a storyline that hasn’t been thought of in any blog site. They’d be like rockstars!

  4. I’m normally just a silent lerker here but since I was so desperate to see a preview for the lastest episode and got to read it here I had to come out of SL Mode to say Thank You.

And I also wanted to say that I think both are already in love with one another but neither is willing to or is brave enough to admit it for one fear of rejection (again) and the other uncertainty. DR and KJ’s delimia kind of reminds me of situation in the drama What Planet are you from?

  5. Will we ever see anything from Yoon Jae’s point of view? Besides his fake first impression about Da Ran, we know nothing about him.
Kyung Jae is now travelling back and forth in the bodies, but where is him? I like that Kyung Jae and Da Ran meant to be together, but I’d love to see this mess through Yoon Jae’s eyes as well. It would be more fun, but I don’t think I will.

    • Me too. I’m still holding out that we’ll get YJ’s side of the story soon or else I’ll be really disappointed. After all he’s Gong Yoo’s *real* character.

  6. Interesting… can’t wait!! I also hope there is some married interaction between them first.

Okay Koala random question that does not have to do with this lol, but you seem to know a lot about kdrama actors. I am working on a kdrama parody series in which I take famous books/ TV shows/ and movies and kdramafy them. My first one is going to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I am going to have a fake cast as well. I am struggling to think of a famous kdrama actor who could fit the part of Angel (if you are not familiar with Buffy he is the starcrossed lover of the vampire slayer, who is himself a vampire and most of the time he is good, but every now and then he turns horribly evil again. He would need to be good at brooding and be able to play both good and evil parts and he needs to be smoking hot because the guy who played him on the original show definitely was lol)

      • Julie,

        You don’t know him?
        http://asianwiki.com/Jang_Hyuk

Yes, he is very hot, but he is a great actor, I’d like to see him once paired with Moon Geun Young. I dislike some actress she played with(this is why was hard to watch Chuno), but in Midas he matched well with our Da Ran. 🙂
Tree With Deep Roots was my favorite drama in 2011. The acting was magnificent.

    • Who are you casting for my Spuffy? I won’t answer your question unless I am satisfied Spike and Buffy are suitably cast.

BtVS might be too ambitious to K-dramafy. I would start with The OC. Though my heart will cry in happiness if anyone could K-dramafy Veronica Mars. LoVe 4ever~

And X-nay on So Ji Sub (too mopey) and Hyukkie (too smirky vengeful) for Angel. I’ll tell you my choice once I get your other cast. Age makes a huge difference. Depends on if you’re going for 20s or 30s in your male leads.

      • I agree with Koala unni. I want to know the age and who is Buffy too… I thin Mr. HOT FOX Hunter should be in it…

      • Well for now it will be just a short press release style written preview and a cast. I may expand it later if it goes well. I did a pilot of this with Twilight just as a random thought and people thought it was funny so I thought I would turn it into a series of “If _____ Were a Kdrama” posts. Don’t kill me if you don’t like my cast lol because I am honestly wanting advice because I am newer to the kdrama game and have less access to info about kpop stars (or at least haven’t found the right places to look yet). Anyway I was thinking like 20s. Originally I thought Ha Ji Won for Buffy because she is good at being kick ass, but then on second thought an important part of Buffy’s character is that she is a very witty smart ass, and that made me think Yoon Eun Hye (who is a personal fave for me anyway). She is both tough as hell (never lost in wrestling on X-Man, even to dudes much bigger than her), she is super intelligent and feisty and ridiculously hot (at least in my opinion). For Spike I thought Jang Geun Suk, who is always type casted as the punk rocker, and although he may not seem as tough as Spike, I have confidence in his acting abilities that he could do it. Spike is also a huge smart ass (which is why him and Buffy were a good match lol), which we know Jang Geun Suk is good at playing lol. That is as far as I have gotten. I was trying to nail down Spike, Buffy, and Angel first before I tackle WIllow, Xander, Cordelia, and Giles. I wish Bae Suzy wasn’t so young because she is great at playing the hot stuck up b*tch and would make a good Cordelia lol.

      • Whoa…a kdrama version of Veronica Mars would just kill me with anticipation before it even aired! And should be produced, written, and directed by the same team from Shut Up Flower Boy Band with maybe help from the writers of Tree with Deep Roots. It would have to take place in college, b/c the subject matter would be too dark for high school in Korea. Veronica: Moon Geun-young Logan: Lee Min Ki
Keith (dad): Baek Yoon-sik (Harvest Villa, TWDR) Wallace-will be a girl in the k-version: Kim Ji Won (High Kick 3, What’s Up) and Weevil: Yoo Ah In. Sure, there’ll have be at least 1 teacher and villains.
And do we need a Duncan? What everyone else think?

      • @mihinikki

Good cast for VM. Let me make a switch. I want Song Joong Ki as Logan. Perfect perfect role for him to play a bad boy and then rock the loverboy inside. Having Yoo Ah In play Weevil is then icing on the cake, no? Of course we have to have the Donut! Is he’s still somewhere in Mexico? I tease, Donut Run made me cry actually. “True love stories never have endings”. Who knew he had it in him to be so utterly selfless and romantic. And another reason to have Duncan is that Veronica-Duncan is as close as US shows have come to fauxcest. My god, the boy spent all of his Junior year thinking he slept with his sister! Good times, good times. Anyways, I’m forever and always a LoVe shipper, but I have a soft spot for the silly boy who back flipped off a bleacher because he was pissed some dude made a pass at his V. My choice for Duncan? None other than Jang Geun Seok! Not the current version of him, but him from the BV days.

  7. You didn’t ask me this question but I figured it would be okay if I offer a suggestion anyway, I’m doing something similiar to what you’re doing but I’m looking for a male korean actor for possible casting. But anyway try out So Ji Sub he’s currently in the drama Ghost. Just my opinion but he fit Angel’s characters.

    • OMG, So Ji Sub is my first choice also. He can be serious and a bit of a rebel (with his bad tattoos) as was David Boreanaz in the role of Angel.

      • Well… YEH possible as Buffy. Remember she was in high school first. I love Michelle Gellar as she was wonderful in All My Children too before Buffy Vampire Slayer. Anyways, I am not YEH as I can not see her as Buffy. That is my opinion. As for Angel, I am still thinking. As for JGS as Spike. Sorry, my dear no. I can not picture him as Spike. I think you need someone else as Spike was evil and badass before he turn good when fell in love with Buffy. Therefore, I think you need to find someone else not JGS. *runs away from JGS fans*

      • So my cast for BtVS K-drama version is this. I’m trying to stick with the ages from the show, so Buffy needs to be late teens, early 20s in terms of the actress, but the two guys can be older since we have eternal vampires around.

        Buffy: Park Bo Young
        Willow: Kim So Eun
        Xander: Baek Sung Hyun
        Cordelia: Eunjung
        Anya: Seo Hyo Rim
        Giles: Kim Min Jong
        Angel: Go Soo
        Spike: Yoo Ah In

      • Trina- Have you seen YEH on the variety show X-Man? She was a pistol and the toughest and strongest girl by far. Her nickname was “Young Girl Warrior” lol. I can see you saying Buffy would need to be younger, but personality wise you would understand why I picked her if you watched her on that show. As for Jang Geun Suk, don’t be like that lol. I’m glad not everyone likes the same people, or it would get boring. I think he can really act and just hasn’t chosen all the best dramas, because even in the dramas I’ve seen him in that I wasn’t crazy about, he still really stood out and did a good job with his characters. Anyway Spike was a badass at first but he could always be a little campy and over the top. Honestly his little girlfriend Darla was scarier than him.

Koala-Okay, thanks!! I looked them all up and I have seen most of them in at least one drama. Yoo Ah In is kind of a weird choice for me though because I’ve only seen him as Geol Oh in Sungyunkwan Scandal, and he was definitely not a Spike like character lol (though I adored his character, he really stole the show lol). Does he play more edgy roles in other dramas? I’m not sure about the Coffee House girl as Codelia either because Cordelia is so hot and that girl was just not cute to me at all in Dream High or Coffee House, but especially Coffee House lol. I guess she definitely proved she could have the attitude in Dream High though ha ha.

  8. Wowzers! Is it just me or does the written preview give you the impression, that YJ had something to do with KKJ mothers death? That could be why he became a doctor…. Oh well, time will tell. Anyways, thank you koala for the preview! 🙂

    • Totally agree. And here was I ,full of excitement, thinking that ep 9 was going to be nothing but comedy and romantic scenes, instead it looks like it will be full of angst. I wonder why the writers are delaying KJ-DR time together.

  9. Its like you learn my thoughts! You appear to understand so much about this, such as you wrote the e-book in it or something. I think that you just can do with a few percent to power the message house a little bit, however instead of that, this is wonderful blog. A fantastic read. I’ll definitely be back.
