I dig this pairing, I dig this pairing very very much. The marketing gurus over at Acuvue-brand contact lenses tapped popular young actors Song Joong Ki and Han Hyo Joo as the new endorsement couple for it’s line of eye products. When Acuvue’s deal with Lee Min Jung expired, like all endorsement deals smartly need to freshen up its image and try something different, this time it went with a couple concept and selected two matching fresh-faced boy and girl next door for the face of its brand in Korea. I still don’t get why contact lenses needs marketing campaigns with famous faces, since I wear whatever the heck my optometrist recommends. But I’m not about to look a gift horse in the mouth since I think Song Joong Ki and Han Hyo Joo look exquisite together. Maybe a tad too vanilla, but for a Spring ad campaign I’m loving their natural breezy vibe and the comfort they exude around each other. The brand praised them for really connecting with the cameras and with each other visually, which is mission critical since they are trying to sell contact lenses. Acuvue describes Song Joong Ki as having a very confident gaze (I totally concur!) whereas Han Hyo Joo gives off a comfortable and candid look (which I also totally concur!). I’m not sure I’m jonesing for them to act together quite yet, since I still think Han Hyo Joo lacks a little something extra in the acting department, whereas Song Joong Ki has really taken his acting to the next level. She’s been acting in only movies recently for the last two years, while Song Joong Ki’s movie and drama last year were both critical and popular hits. I love them both so the chance to see them together even in a print advertising campaign is a win-win.
