Zhao Li Ying to Headline High Profile C-drama Adaptation of Xianxia Novel Accompanying the Phoenix with Reunited Male Lead Lin Geng Xin

The new crop of C-drama actresses that have up come up big in the last few years have done so because the last gen hasn’t been doing as many C-dramas, it’s one gen takes the myriad opportunities that arise. But the last gen is still doing dramas from time and time and it gets a lot of press, case in point Zhao Li Ying and news that she’s coming back to period C-dramas with the xianxia adaptation of the novel Accompanying the Phoenix (Yu Feng Xing) by writer Jiu Lu Fei Xiang. It’s her first period drama since the underwhelming Legend of Fei in 2020 with Wang Yi Bo, and her last big period hit was the 2018 period drama The Story of Ming Lan. This time she isn’t just headlining a novel focused on a strong female lead, she will be reuniting with male lead Lin Geng Xin from their hit 2017 C-drama Princess Agents. The drama production released these set of concept stills in connection with her casting confirmation and it’s all so pretty!

  2. Started the novel a few weeks ago but I didn’t know the translations have stopped a year. Major cliffhanger as there are around 15 more chapters left. Bummer.

Of JLFX’s novel adaptations, this is at the bottom of my list though I like the story better than 7 Unfortunate Lifetimes. Haven’t really warmed up to this actress at all. Looking forward to Eternal Love and Love You Seven Times.

  3. Zhao liying definitely is e best choice to act in this novel. I cant think of anyones (other actresses) better than her.

Wowwwwwww she is so…..beautiful and fierce in all these outfits, GORGEOUS body tooooooo

  4. The last-gen female actors are still very active with the exception of Liu Shishi and Tang Yan. Even Crystal Liu is returning to the small screen with Meng Hua Lu set to air next week and two more in the works, and Liu Shishi is rumoured to be joining two period dramas as well. There are only a handful of actresses capable of headlining their own dramas – the “last-gen” 85-ers and the two top 90-ers – so you’ll be seeing them a lot for the next two years.

  5. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, thus…IMHO Legend of Fei was certainly not underwhelming, I fail to understand why there are some who trashed the drama, I have watched it twice and loved it, both ZLY and WYB did a great job as the lead couple, they are both beautiful human beings and believable as a couple. I was impressed with WYB, and ZLY never disappoints, the support actors also did a great job as well. There are MANY viewers who love LOF!!!! Then again, I am also a viewer who couldn’t get past the 4th epi of DOTS and a viewer who is a die-hard, ride or die Yoon Eun Hye fan, so we all see/feel different things when we watch films and dramas.
