Written and Video Preview for Episode 7 of Miss Rose

Episode 6 of Miss Rose felt rather like a transition episode. I’ve just been so swamped and mentally fried the recap was parked somewhere in my brain for longer than usual, but watching it later again confirmed the episode had tons of sweetness and great plot reveals. I think it’s pointless to look too deeply into TW-dramas, the best ones really sell a great romance but aren’t intended for layered analysis. I want MR to pick up the pace now that all the chess pieces have been laid out – Cheng Kuan likes Si Yi but hasn’t figured out what he’s going to do about it while Si Yi is surely affected by Cheng Kuan but isn’t anywhere near taking a step towards him especially when Vivian has her claws out for her.

I love ex-boyfriend storylines when it triggers the heroine to really examine her feelings for the new guy and the old guy, much like how My Queen tackled the conundrum so well. I need to see the ex-boyfriend Tang Yi Chun in action before evaluating him as a possibility for Si Yi, because really Cheng Kuan is already winning hearts left and right. I do find it funny that folks in the drama keep mentioning how plain Si Yi is, but other than the first episode, the way Si Yi has morphed in MR is pretty radical and aside her from penchant for flats, she’s pretty smoking hot these days. I hope her ex-boyfriend takes a look at her and kicks himself in the arse for leaving in the first place.

Written preview for episode 7:

Miss Screw is emotionally paralyzed from the heartbreak!

Turns out engineering genius Tang Yi Chun is Si Yi’s ex-boyfriend. The sweet and the painful memories cause Si Yi to spit tears of rage. How will Cheng Kuan help Si Yi take the next step forward? Cheng Kuan hopes to bring Yi Chun onboard to save Guang Qiang together. He attends a charity auction with Si Yi to help convince Yi Chun to join. At the charity auction ball, Si Yi is glowing and eye-catching. But she messes up her waltz steps under Yi Chun’s piercing gaze. Cheng Kuan uses a tango to help Si Yi regain her confidence. The battle for Miss. Screw’s love, will the ultimate victor be Cheng Kuan or Yi Chun?

    • I think it would have been better if she had looked at Roy after the tango instead of tilting her head up though... Ah well :)

  • I'm glad they haven't made her too dressed up, its not true to her more practical character if she suddenly started getting dressed to the 9 every morning for work.

A question though, how many episodes is this drama altogether? I haven't found it mentioned anywhere yet. I hope its not too long. So many taiwanese dramas suffer from just being too long.

    • A pre-filmed drama will reveal its total length in advance. Live-filmed dramas do not indicate its length until near the end of its run. MR is live-filmed so my guess is 20(?) episodes? I kept telling people OG was 20 eps, then 22, then 24, and finally it ended at 25. Most range from 14-22, but live-filmed SETTV Sunday night dramas can be longer depending on how highly rated it is.

      • Ah ok! I'm mostly used to korean dramas where they have usually a set amount (unless it gets extended due to high ratings). It's so much more annoying waiting for 1 episode a week compared to korea where its 2.

So far I am enjoying Miss Rose, but it definitely has to get a move. But with 14 episodes roughly still to go i think they need to diversify the storyline a bit more!

  • Roy Qiu is really hitting this out of the ball park. That look on his face at 0:15? Swoon. Can't wait for the next episode. :))

  • I blame you, koala, for getting me addicted to Miss Rose. From reading your caps, I ended up marathoning 6 episodes. Now I'm looking forward to the rest.

    Thank you :D
