SBS 2013 Year End Drama Awards
With Lee Bo Young winning the Daesang at the 2013 SBS Year End Drama Awards, this caps off an actress sweep of the Daesangs across all three major networks. Her drama I Hear Your Voice was both a ratings hit for SBS and very well received by critics and audiences alike so in addition to Lee Bo Young her co-star Lee Jong Seok also took home a shiny actor prize himself. SBS spread out the love more than the other networks with a few acting awards going to most of its popular dramas. The only surprise was the complete shut out of Yawang which was one of its biggest ratings hit all year but I figured as much when I heard Soo Ae wasn’t attending this ceremony. So Ji Sub took home an award for The Master’s Sun but his co-star Gong Hyo Jin didn’t attend either. Both Jo In Sung and Song Hye Kyo won for That Winter, the Wind Blows as did Nam Sang Mi and Kim Ji Hoon for Goddess of Marriage. As expected, Heirs did really will for leads Park Shin Hye and Lee Min Ho as they both took home acting prizes and a best couples award. The only acting win that I was genuinely thrilled about was Song Dong Il getting recognized for Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love, which made up for the rest of the cast getting shafted despite them doing a stellar acting job and it was completely the fault of the second half writing collapse to blame for this drama’s crazy detour. If Suzy can win an acting award over at MBC its high time Kim Tae Hee got one especially since she was really stellar in JOJ. The outfits at the SBS awards actually made me sit up a little compared to the ones at KBS and MBC. I loved Jung Eun Ji‘s bright primary color one shoulder dress while Lee Bo Young rocked all her sleek and sophisticated dresses as the MC and accepting her Daesang. Park Shin Hye’s dress and hairband low pony tail was so dull she looked like a virginal debutante at her first ball, but Lee Min Ho continues to playfully navigate the awards circuit this month. I have to thank SBS for finally had some major fashion fails and we have So Ji Sub to thank for showing up as a magician wearing palazzo pants. Lee Jong Seok was no better with his hair bleached blond and wearing an ornate suit with a great coat over it. The network also had a cute photo booth backstage where the stars snapped pictures that certainly added to the more playful atmosphere all around.

Woah. I’m surprised they omitted Yawang. Soo Ae and Kwon Sang Woo did a fantastic job at the roles despite the storyline. They should at least take home an award. Quite sad almost like MBC omitted Two Weeks.
Best Dress for me was hands down Eunji as well!

Lee Jong-Seok – omo. I don’t know if I’ve seen anything worse (obviously excluding Jang Geun-suk). He looks… So bad, I don’t have the right words. And SJS – what was he wearing?!? That looks like a skirt, too-long coat, sweep-the-floor guy style thing. I actually can’t articulate words for the fashion fail in here. LMH was wearing a really hideous suit (with matching pants) but his is gold compared to the other two I mentioned!
LBY had my most favorite look along with Eun-ji. Also love PSH’s headband – gah, she and Suzy are rocking that look. I so want one now!
I laughed out loud at SJS and LJS, like why? I actually like PSH’s dress and I’m stoked that she won best couple with LMH, my fave SBS couple this year. KJW’s dress was a little bit frou-frou but she still looked beautiful and KMH is cute, where’s Krystal? Wish KWB had rocked Young-do’s hair-do though, that would have been cool.
Omo! Can’t believe I forgot the gorgeous actress that played Little Taeyang. She is adorable and hey, it’s Kang Candy. they were my favourite couple from Master’s Sun. so cute.

Wait was Yoo In Na at 2 award ceremonies? How does this normally work for actors who do work on multiple networks?
Also, I’m disappointed by the My Daughter Seo Young snub but meh, Lee Bo Young still kicked butt in that yellow dress and in I Hear Your Voice and gets to home to Ji Sung so no loss there :p
MDSY was already included last year.
There could have been an exception to nominate this twice.. But I reckon the absence of the cast members might have lead to the shut out of MDSY, especially when it’s key figure SY aka Bo-young is at SBS awards.
I loved MDSY though..
Wish they had a daily category like kbs so ugly alert could have gotten some love. It was onedof the best dramas all year but glad winter, hear and master each got some since I loved all 3 of those

Eun Ji looked like a firecracker! Loved her! Lee Bo Young truly makes me despair with her elegance and talent! I loved Kang So Ra’s alluring look but it does look familiar somehow. Kang Min Hyuk is a cutie!

I am looking forward to the day that an independent awards body will be formed in Korea to give acting awards on the basis of acting ability and not drama ratings.
How did Queen of Ambition not win any awards? There ratings were really good! Hitting 20%! Ill never understand how they pick their winners. All well at least these results are better than MBC and KBS. Well either than Lee Min Ho winning best dressed for his ugly wardrobe in Heirs.

gong hyo Jin won nothing? 🙁 I wanted her to win best actress for masters sun. park shi hoo and his drama cheongdamdong Alice did not get nominations either. it’s not that good anyways. since 2011, moon geun young hasn’t won any awards for almost 3 years.
i aint 100% sure but i heard last time MGY got award was 47th baeksang (may 2011) for other drama MSOAN. yep, approx. 3 yrs
