There are always going to be younger and fresher faces in the entertainment industry, not to mention how annoying it is for fans or media to obsesses on actresses aging and/or not getting married. I like to dedicate a post to the gorgeous and successful top actresses in the Chinese and Taiwanese entertainment circle, aging gracefully without a chip on their shoulder, and choosing not to settle down until the right guy comes along. Popular Taiwanese entertainment Facebook pages have been reposting the above picture recently, showing four forty year old and older Taiwanese actresses posing for a sisterhood shot at a black tie event, showing their timeless beauty and effortless style – from left to right is Ruby Lin, Shu Qi, Vivian Hsu, and Terri Kwan. Vivian and Terri are both married while Ruby and Shu Qi are two of the most successful still single actresses on the market, with the media forever fixated on their marital status along with other single older ladies like Li Bing Bing, Fan Bing Bing, Lin Chi Ling, and Xu Jing Lei. If I had any of those ladies career successes and looks, marriage is basically an added benefit and not a necessity, LOL.
I think FBB is about 5 years younger than all of those you’ve lumped her together with, and she even has a boyfriend.
Shu Qi is like one of my first girl crushes. I kind of forgot about that until i watch her in Stephen Chow’s movie again and i go damn she’s really gorgeous + super funny.
She ages like fine wine and yeah to add FBB into the mix seems like.. lol because she’s young like really young compared to the rest.
And oh congrats Shu Qi for winning the coveted best actress in the Asian Film Festival.
These ladies might have bfs or already married secretly. It is the entertainment industry after all. Andy Lau kept his wife a secret for so many years.
But on the other hand, these days girls marry alot later in life. I think it is a good thing. No need to rush if they don’t want to.
Ruby’s career been really good. Though as her fan, I want her to have some rest too. She seems like she never wants to stop.
The pressure to be young, pretty and get married fast hasn’t changed at all over the years, regardless of the social changes women have benefited from. The winning women, regardless of the era, have always been those who found strategy to get over the “noise” about when they should do this or that, and how they should live their lives. Marriage matters, it keeps a society more stable, but marrying young or old shouldn’t matter as long as it is a sound decision. I’ve seen too many women rushing into marriage for approval only to regret it, and sometimes almost immediately after saying “I do”.
P.S. Kudos to these ladies! They all look fantastic!
Shu Qi became my favorite when she acted alongside Zhao Wei as sisters on that movie : so close.
Still remember its ost til today.
Shu qi my forever idol and crush, i know she’s not perfect but she has this aura captures me in many years (i’ve been a fan since 1999) all the ups and downs in her career shes still amaze me
