There’s no end to bad news around K-dramas recently and another one has run into a roadblock of sorts. Upcoming OCN police thriller Children of a Lesser God will delay it’s premiere one week until March 3th due to supporting actor Jo Min Ki leaving the cast having filmed his scenes already. It’s the right decision on his part as he’s currently dealing with the fallout from being fired as a University professor for allegedly sexually harassing students. Jo Min Ki has denied the allegations but it would have cast a pall on the drama that no one else in that cast or production should be dealing with. OCN continues to churn out fantastic dark procedurals and I’m really looking forward to the pairing of Kang Ji Hwan and Kim Ok Bin as dogged cops working to solve crime.
There’s not just Jo Min Ki but there’s Yi Myeong-Haeng and Lee Yun-Taek too. Yi Myeong-Haeng is a musical stage actor, who has sexually harassed and assaulted female staff for years. He is widely known for playing Jo Joon in Six Flying Dragons. Lee Yun-Taek is Korea’s own Harvey Weinstein. He is a theater director and he has abused women for more than 20 years. One of Lee Yun- Taek’s victims has told that she was raped several times by Lee and she even had an abortion because of the pregnancy caused by the rapes. The director kept sexually abusing her because the director believed it was his right to this woman’s body because she was ‘his woman’ already because of the pregnancy. The reason why he is South-Korea’s Harvey Weinstein is because nobody dared to speak up against him because he was an influential figure in the cultural circles and the leftist elite. He also vocally supported president Moon Jae In’s campaign, much like Weinstein supported Obama. Lee had a great power in the theater scene so rookies couldn’t speak against him. Then there is he Korean Kevin Spacey, director Lee Hyun Ju, who raped a fellow female director, came out as a lesbian when the fact that she raped another person got into headlines. Time’s up. Better expose all the scum in the entertainment industry and exile them forever, give the disgusting trash harsh punishments. Also, if major conglomerate CEOs think they can get away with their crimes by throwing some directors under the bus, they should know that people won’t forget Jang Ja Yeon. Lets bring justice to her so she can finally rest in peace.
OMG. That’s horrendous. I hope the abusers rot in hell.
I really hope these scum all rot in hell and that their victims find some measure of comfort in the fact that they’re now known as the scum they are.
What a nuisance and a disgrace.Instead of him humbly admitting his wrongs. He had the audacity to try to make excuses, dismissing them as rumours and then after a little probing. He said his physical touches towards the students were “merely to encourage them not molestation”.Only after actress Song Ha Neul came out and gave her testimony, is when his agency had to release the statement that he is complying with police investigation and that he is stepping down from the drama. Before anyone thinga of the possibility that this could be a false allegation, a report was already made to the university about his sexual harrassment and he was found guilty.Thats why he was fired. He tried to say the unicersity is lying about the reasons about his dismissal. This is alao another reason why the rookie actress came out and gave her ordeal.Read it on Soompi.Utterly revolting.
The sad thing is this actor is actually very talented. But he has ruined his career because he cant keep his hands to himself. For those who dont know the guy, he was the King in “Scarlet Heart Ryeo”, the villain in “Two Weeks” and the father of Yeo Ji Goo in the early episodes of “iljimae”.I heard he was in East of Eden as well.
wow, commenters .. what happened to innocent until proven guilty.. we don’t know the whole story….stop making assumption already based on what u read online. Have we not learned from the past. geez.
They have already been either proven, admitted or taken to court. Maybe it’s you who should read before speaking and yet again assuming that victims are lying.
….public opinion is not the same as a court of law, and it’s my opinion that a workplace doesn’t owe a rapist any presumption of innocence.
Good riddance to this scum, and my thoughts are with the victims he assaulted and abused for almost a decade.
Dude, rape and sexual harrassment are RAMPANT in the entertainment industry. These people are more like GUILTY until PROVEN INNOCENT.
Yes touching someone out of general care and fondness is good but if it goes overboard and the person whom your touching is not comfortable with it Then you should know to stop. A person differentiate between the affectionate touch and a touch with I’ll intentions.

I am pretty sure many actresses and actors have been victim of sexual assault by, the producers, Directors, and costars, that even when the situation were brought up to the attention of production companies and public, people still defending those “ perves”! I am hopeful , it will end one day!
