  2. Yep folks, this is totally normal behavior. It’s kind of funny that in 2021 when people are up in arms about issues surrounding consent that we’re still expected to find student-teacher ‘romance’ hilarious and sweet. There’s also an Im Soo Jung drama this year about the same topic but the kid will actually be in high school.

Gross. I give up. I wish I could understand the deeper reasons why Kdramas push noona-dongsaeng when it’s comparatively pretty rare.

    • its a college romance and college students are adults esp if they are in the final year or doing masters or PG… its a no-no when it comes to high school teacher-student relationships…
if the college student is 21 or above and the teacher is in his/her late 20s or early 30s its not that big of a deal…

      • I think his character is a graduate student because law schools in Korea follow the US example, preparing for your Law degree after completing your Undergraduate education.

      • There’s a school of thought that says that power differential makes it impossible to have a consensual relationship with someone you’re teaching. This is, of course, not an absolute but I bet people here would be screeching if the genders were reversed (statistically way more common).

  3. Nooooooooooo……
Seo Hyun Jin shouldn’t do another noona romance. Temperature of Love is enough. She really needs to try something else.

  4. Disappointment really for an actress of her talent & capability. She should go for roles in dramas like FOE, Hospital Playlist, Voice, Sky Castle, etc. Don’t get stuck in a rut like PMY. Her cameo in Record of Youth shows she’s capable of acting in a medical thriller drama.

    • She should be paired with actors closer to her age. I want to see her in an OCN drama. Just imagine if it was her with Lee Seo Jin in Times. Someone pls offer her a role that would showcase her talent.

Also she already played a teacher in Black Dog. I don’t have much faith in SBS.

      • Yeah, totally onboard with your suggestion. SHJ has the Kim Suna and Kim Seo Hyung charisma. She will slay it with veteran actors like So Ji Sub, Hyun Bin, Yoo Ji Tae and Lee Byung Hyun. Can picture her as NIS agent chasing down spies or Lady of Dignity style chabeol heiress. Something gritty, bitchy but vulnerable at the same time.

  5. Well she already did a medical drama Romantic Dr. Kim. Maybe she is typecasted and that’s the only roles she has been offered. I personally want her to do a sageuk but given the controversies around historical dramas now…

  6. Yes koala,i really HATES him on the school playlist!come on his ages are far from that
But for noona dongsaeng yeaa i found it very impressive on his last kdrama cheat on me if you can,you are not reviewing here, its a good story and cast by the way
Maybe its depend by the actress pairing, but with seo hyun jin?i dunno i have a bad feeling chemistry, even this two actors great

  7. I like him well enough in EY, but he was disappointing in Penthouse. I don’t think of him as Male Lead material at this point.

    • Couldn’t agree more. Saw him in Cheat If You Can and Penthouse. He was all kinds of meh in both dramas. Nothing impressive. Yet he’s scoring a lead role next to one of the fine K-actresses? And according to the post, they say he’s VERY handsome? Not to be mean, but I don’t see the very. He’s just average to me. Tsk-tsk. Have to agree with Q below that the rookie actors have it way too easy these days…

      • I find it extremely unfair to young actresses as well as one of my bias young actor who’s been acting since 1998 but never given lead roles (Lee Tae Ri)

      • I’ve noticed this too and I wonder why it seems to be easier now. I stopped watching kdramas for more than a year and I noticed how many male actors who had rather small roles are now so big. Could it be that they just have good agencies? Or due to social media? Good looks? While I’m happy to see new actor faces, I’d also like to see this hype and rising popularity for younger actresses. There are many talented actresses who don’t seem to move from small roles.

    • It’s sad because Kdramas are so precious to me and I’ve given up any expectations of romance in Western drama. Cdramas aren’t perfect but at least there are a bunch of them and statistically you’re pretty likely to find something appealing for your individual taste.

    • Not true. I have brutally dropped tons of k-dramas where they’re desperately pushing young actors as the next big IT guy. Starting from KMH with HJW in Hospital Ship to the boys from EY. LJW sucks in Do Do whatever with Go Ara. She was so screechy in AM94 too. Dropped these two dramas like hot potatoes. Don’t get me started with Rowoon. And now this guy?

      • I love your vibes. I chopped off Vincenzo too though SJK is not in this group. I adore the Godfather Mafia blow ups, SJK kicking the ass of K gangsters, shades of Stephen Chow humour in Kungfu Hustle then the show got mired in boring law mumbo jumbo.

    • It’s not true. Penthouse, Vincenzo, Mouse, Beyond Evil (except YJG), Sisyphus, Oh!Master, Hello? It’s Me! They all have main leads older than 30 years old.

Older actors are always set-up with younger actresses and nobody complains.
