When there are twins in a drama its typical to style them differently but Ji Sung as twin brothers in Adamas just switches clothes lol. New stills and an action suspense laden new preview is out and the drama is giving off a weird secretive world of rich and powerful people vibes. Seo Ji Hye is framed as the rich wife of that weird rich family living in the big compound but clearly she has more layers and will play a key role in the twin Ji Sung’s trying to solve a twenty year old mystery. Lee Soo Kyung joins in as the second female lead as a gung ho reporter. The drama comes from the PD of Kairos and I’m also excited to see that deft hand with presenting the gradual unraveling of the mystery onion.

Preview for Adamas:
I like that they released a teaser for each twin. This looks like a typical thriller involving corrupt rich people but two Ji Sungs is the selling point for me. I don’t expect it to bring tvN out of it’s Wed-Thurs slump, unfortunately. They haven’t had anything resembling a hit there for over a year. It would have made more sense to air this on Mon-Tues after Link and put the new sageuk on Wed-Thurs. Mix it up a bit. Too many thrillers/revenge dramas on Wed-Thurs.
I don’t what know tvN ppl are thinking. Putting JS drama on Mon-Tues, it won’t have any competition at all. There’s nothing from SBS atm. Agree KMJ saguek would break up revenge heavy on Wed-Thurs slot. But now JS has to compete head on with PEB’s red hot streak in Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
They will air at different times so it’s not exactly head to head. Ji Sung’s dramas typically pull decent ratings but other than the twin thing, this looks like every other thriller/revenge drama that tvN has put out and that has settled in the 2-4% range. I do think it would have s better chance on Mon-Tues, not because there is less competition, necessarily, but that time slot has showed some life with Ghost Doctor and Military Prosecutor Doberman. Tvn’s Wed-Thurs slot is just dead.
Ji Sung is a rating magnet so it will be interesting to see how he would compete against possible Baeksang candidate PEB. Devil Judge did very well.
Speaking of tvn slump on weekdays, I notice they’re producing shorter dramas like sbs’ BP. Joseon Psychiatrist is only 12 ep surprisingly. I was expecting it to be 16 ep at least. Want to see more of KMJ after DACP.
Same goes for Little Women only 12 ep. I was expecting more as WHJ and KGE flew to Singapore for overseas location shoot. This is the first kdrama post pandemic lockdowns to have oversea scenes so I’m pumped.
tvn has been cutting budget possibly due to competing ott platforms like disney, apple, coupang etc. killer shopping list only 8 ep. Maybe tvn is losing revenue like Netflix which has a massive 70% loss in the share market. They laid off staff worldwide and canned many US programs.
