Okay, this surprisingly sounds really interesting and a way to take both the Taiwanese love of supernatural movies dealing with Chinese cultural superstitions and the continued growth of the BL genre. A new Taiwanese movie is heading to the theaters and has recently gotten the honor to be the closing movie at the 2022 Golden Horse Film Festival. It’s titled Marry My Dead Body (Chinese title 關於我和鬼變成家人的那件事 That Story About the Ghost and Me Becoming a Family) and it trending high for casting two good looking male leads in Greg Hsu and Austin Lin. It’s a supernatural BL movie about a dude-esque cop and the gay dead guy’s spirit he marries, with a very warm and comedic twist. Greg is the cop who picks up a red envelope on the ground (NEVER DO THAT) which contains the birth information of Austin’s dead guy and a shaman left it there so that whomever finds it has to marry Austin’s spirit, it’s done to appease people who die before marriage and are angry about that. They end up “marrying” and teaming together to crack a case, and maybe even solve Austin’s death who knows.
