So I’m following Reborn Rich (The Chaebol’s Youngest Son) on jTBC weekends but it would be remiss not to mention that another cable drama the tvN weekend sageuk Under the Queen’s Umbrella rocketed up the ratings meter earlier and is still hitting new highs. Starring Kim Hye Soo as the titular queen momma protecting and educating her princely sons in the cutthroat Joseon palace, the drama started with 7.649% one of the highest premieres on tvN and has since hit 11% multiple times and the most recent episode 14 last Sunday brought in 13.415% ratings. All hail the Queen herself and this Friday she even rocked the 2022 Blue Dragon Awards in an eye catching turquoise dress with a cape. She shared dress fitting pictures afterwards showing her absolutely unreal figure rocking a total of four dresses and slaying even with a baseball cap and mask on. This woman is lit and has been spanning four distinct decades in the industry showing no signs of stopping and we are all so lucky to have true stars like her still delivering.

Currently enjoying Under Queen’s umbrella 💜💜. Can’t think of any other K actress other than KHS who is the PERFECT Queen / Mother for this drama… gentle to our boys… fierce when she needs to do everything to protect them !
KHS is a warrior . Not only she is a good actress but she shows that a woman over 50 years can carry a drama as the main lead , not to mention great ratings . It’s a great achievement in K industry which should cast more older actresses instead of always pairing old actors with very young actresses .
Are you nuts? Korean dramas for the past decade have been more often than not pairing old actresses with young actors because old actors are too prominent to do dramas and young actresses failed to break through or get proper opportunities to lead.
I mean no disrespect to Kim Hye Soo who is a goddess and her role in Queen’s Umbrella is brilliantly done. But you must really have your head in the sand about the industry.
Lol once we get a drama with a 17-year old male actor and an actress pushing 30s (like Kim So Hyun and Taecyeon and Kim You Jung and Yoon Kyun Sang), then we’ll talk. You just love excusing men, as always. Very telling that I only see you popping up to defend men and to complain about noona dramas when the pairing of underage girls with grown-ass men are way way way more prevalent in KDramas. You only notice the very few noona dramas because you hate them so much, as if the actors in those pairings are underage like in young actress-older actor pairings.
