Well, jTBC drama Reborn Rich continues its juggernaut this time breaking a different ratings record. Gallup Poll posts monthly results of South Korean viewers on their favorite currently airing K-drama and to no one’s surprise Reborn Rich tops this December 2022 poll with 16.6%. That is apparently an astronomical number as even breaking 10% is considered a mega hit. To compare, in the last 10 years here are the dramas and the poll percentages that broke 10%. Weekend drama My Daughter Seo Young with 10.6% and 12.2% so topping twice in its 6 months run. You From Another Star got 11.5%, long sageuk Empress Ki with 10.8% and 11.8%, Come Jang Bori with 12.1%, and Descendants of the Sun with 12.3%. More recent dramas are Goblin with 12.6%, Sky Castle with 13.0%, and Extraordinary Attorney Woo with 13.1% and 16.4%. That means other mega high rated dramas like Penthouse and The World of the Married, audiences must’ve been hate-watching it out of curiosity haha. Anyhoo, super amazing to have two 2022 dramas hit new highs in the Gallup Poll.
Ridiculous, the hype for that drama. I don’t get it.
Simple..some of the events are related to korean history. The more Koreans can relate to them, the more popular the drama is.
Why ridiculous? People have different tastes. You dislike what the majority likes. Neither you nor they are “correct”. You just like different things. Hardly ridiculous.
A drama about chaebols dealing with family intrigue set in a time that evokes nostalgic feelings for Koreans. You don’t have to get it. Koreans do and they are tuning in whether on pay cable or Netflix Korea.
Loving the drama. The acting is top notch.
The hype is for Korean audience…unless you are one. It’s something that just speaks to them more than international audience.
I honestly didn’t expecting this drama to be this BIG. I mean, JTBC is struggling to even close 2 digit rating from the past 2 years. I think they crave vincenzo type of drama with more serious tone and not too ott I Think. And I actually abit underwhelming with the execution. But Happy for Lee Sung Min and Song Joong Ki.
The drama is nice, the acting is perfect and the emotions are also perfect. I’m so happy for Song Joong Ki
