So Allen Ren is super busy with one drama filming after another but sadly for me the one I was looking forward to the most is in the same predicament as Liu Yu Ning and his upcoming dramas. While Liu Yu Ning’s Prisoner of Beauty is stuck as the prisoner of purgatory due to female lead Song Zu Er, same goes for Allen’s The Demon Hunter’s Romance where she is the female lead. Guh, so frustrating. But Allen just wrapped a drama with Li Lan Li called Love of Nirvana and is headed to his next drama filming a period series called Phoenix Stage where his female lead after some industry casting roulette is now confirmed as Peng Xiao Ran. The drama confirmed their casting this week and released the first teaser character posters of the leads. Allen can carry a drama but frequently the story and directing sucks like in Thousand Years for You and he has no chemistry that particular female lead, so as always I will tread lightly with this one as Peng Xiao Ran is coming off a string of flops and is thisclose to being a one hit wonder of Goodbye My Princess.
I never did finish Goodbye My Princess bc of the ml’s character but PXR is so pretty. Hopefully her new dramas will be successful & get her more leading roles with a ml that I like.
I find Peng Xiao Ran a very feminine and gentle lady… It is in her bones, It is not acting. I am not particularly interested in Allen Ren. But I still hope Peng Xiao Ran will score another good script. Allen is passable as a lead.

He tends to be one note for me and hopefully he will be dubbed. I have only seen her in one of those flops, unfortunately. Therefore, it’s going to take a lot for me to warm up to her.
He is leaving Huarui because all the support went to Cheng Yi and they dropped him like a hot potato. It’s a good decision, he deserves better because his results are not bad at all, even if I don’t personally like or watch his stuff.
I think her Jun Jiuling (?) was pretty popular too, no?
I have no probs both leads but as usual, it depends on the story. But I used to like Allen but his cheating rumor turned me off.
His cheating rumour turn me off him too… No denial from him…just covered up.
The cheating rumor is problematic because he and Cheng Yi are basically at war. They have both been slinging mud at each other.
It’s also true their agency has basically dropped RJL and is spending enormous amounts of money on CY so the talk that RJL is leaving after this drama has been around and sounds believable. He doesn’t have results that are worse than CY and actually finds roles more easily but HR made their choice. It will be interesting to see what happens here.
So don’t hold on to those rumors too tightly, the situation is pretty complicated.
I don’t think Jun Jiu Ling was popular… The only thing I’ve ever seen about that drama were people making fun of the male lead’s visuals and the bad camera work.
I think Peng Xiaoran is a pretty decent actress. It’s unfortunate that she hasn’t gotten good scripts.
I tried watching two of her recent dramas and ended up dropping both like the story just fizz out. We’ll see how this one fares for both leads. Also, It’s been a long time since I’ve watched an Allen Ren show since Under The Power.
