Marry My Husband with Park Min Young and Na In Woo Breaks 10% Ratings in Episode 10 Cementing Successful Run

January 2024 is a wrap and a big congrats to the first K-drama hit of the year with Marry My Husband. The latest episode 10 got a fitting 10.714% ratings, breaking double digits for the first time and really high numbers for a cable drama on tvN. This drama definitely got more negative news than positive pre-airing what with Park Min Young coming off a bad dating scandal last year and also woefully think physique for method acting a late stage cancer patient. But she and the drama overcame all that with a very engaging story that has viewers tuning in organically and watching because it’s entertaining and all the rest becomes white noise.

  1. It helps the viewers a lot that the characters feel like real people and not caricatures. No one is intrinsically perfect and even the bad guys have their good sides. I have profound respect for the acting skills of all 4 leads after watching this drama particularly Lee Yi-Kyung and Song Ha Yoon. I don’t end up hating their characters though I hope they get their just deserts in the end, lol.

    • Yeah they don’t act over the top as the villain, they behaves just like normal people. Compared to how makjang actors portray their character with wide eyed and vicious expressions, theirs are more controlled. I like this really much

      • The typical makjang actress in this drama would be Park Min Hwan’s mum…. the character fits in well in this drama as watching her is a comic relief for me.

I am just so glad I am not hearing so much shouting in Kdramas these days…

      • @HL

Ah yeah minhwan’s mom has the typical villain acting, it’s a little out of place. Yeah at least there’s no shouting battle like in penthouse, my ear bleed watching few episodes of that.

To be honest, since the drama is on revenge phase from the start, we the viewers can enjoy the revenge feeling immediately without having to bottle up the frustrations

    • Are we really watching the same drama?I agree that it is extremely well played but i don’t see any good sides to the bad guys.
      They are the worst.

      • Maybe because I have seen Lee Yikyung on Waikiki and Go Back Couple, Song Hayoon on Fight For My Way and Oh Youngshim, so I can’t really hate them.

  2. Good thing that for once a “scandal” didn’t affect the work of an actress and the all cast . I’m happy for her , for Na In Woo and all the crew . Lee Yi Kyung plays a total jerk but i can’t hate him . Song Ha Yoon is doing well with her disorder personality .The minus is that i want to know more about NIW’s character , life and hwo they are dealing with it .

    • LLee Yi Kyung is a brat spoilt by his mum, Song Ha Yoon is just a very sad person due to nuture… I dont hate them. What I do enjoy is Kang Ji Won who still tries to give Song Ha Yoon chances but she never fails to dig her own coffin…

      • @cahill, KKY is a familiar face to me. He has very good chemistry with Park Eun Bin as her boss in Extraordinary Attorney. I had no idea he even had been a ML in any drama.

    • @cahill, I noted that NIW’s screen time was less than LYK in the past few eps. Surely LYK is a great actor who made his jerk character alive. But there seems too few arcs about the ML. I’m also curious about his story.

On a side note, LYK can be as hot and sexy in thriller Children of Nobody and also a comedic jerk/joke here. That’s how good he is as an actor.

      • @Somebody, totally agree with you , he only gets 2nd or 3rd lead roles but he works a lot and is really good . Thi is the reason why viewers know his name . In many dramas, viewers only remember the names of the leads ,he is one of the non lead actors who viewers know about . It was the same for Oh Jung se who is good, and many others . I hope that one day he will lead a drama as Kang Ki Young actually in his first lead role ” Queen of Divorce” .

      • Another actor who is younger but also good : Kwak Dong Yun , i hope that he will in the future lead a role . He is way better than Song Kang, Cha Eun Woo,…and works in the field since more a decade .

      • @Cahill, I think Kwak Dong-yeon is not a bad actor but his looks and height is not the same league as the 2 younger chap you mentioned.
I am not saying I like those 2 artistes… I am a huge fan of Park Seo Joon. I like his looks alot…

      • @HL , agree, but i named The 2 guys just to highlight the fact that looks t are more important than talent . For this reason that actors as LYK,Kang Ki young, Oh jung Se, who are in the industry since years and are good actors have to work more and longer to get a lead role as Kang Ki Young finally after more than a decade . And he is a lucky one because others will never have the chance because of looks and height as you mentioned . K entertainment is a lot like Hollywood for this . In my country , France, we have a lot of stars and popular leads who aren’t what we can call good looking . Seeing a good looking man is always good but maybe because i’m old, charisma, talent, allure,…is way more attractive for me , Looks are a + .

      • If i have to choose between Park Seo Jun and Na In Woo, i prefer NIW ! I think that i may be the only one . I was always captivated by his eyes !

      • @Cahill, in UK, it is the same. Our popular artistes really comes in all shapes, height and sizes. They are cast based on skills… Example: Hugh Laurie, famous Dr House is definitely not a looker.

      • @ HL, i’m a big fan of english actors . Hugh Laurie i knew him before House , the late Alan Rickman ( i love him so much) , Colin Firth , Shaun Evans ( fantastic Morse) David Suchet, Rupert Penry Jones, Matthew MacFadyen, Simon Pegg, Richard Armitage, David Tennant, , Tom Hollander, James D’arcy, James McAvoy, David Morrissey, the late Pete Postlewhaite (Brassed off of of my favorite movies) John Simm…. i could write until the morning . Between the most beautiful korean actors and them , I chose them . It’s unfair , Great Britain has the best bands, singers , song writers …You are the champions !

      • No need to mention the actresses, true gems , Emma Thompson, Maggie Smith, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Carey Mulligan ( Joe Wright saw their talent!)Vivien Leigh, Helena Bohnam carter,Sally Hawkins, …and the master Alfred Hitchcock, and one of my favorite authors Elizabeth Gaskell, and my favorite book Persuasion ( J austen)…you have it all 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

      • I finally got to check Sweet Home 1. Welp! Such a disgusting horror film! Song Kang was better in his role there than the more comedic character in My Demon. But I have to confess that sometimes international fans have very bad tastes in Asian dramas. That’s perhaps the reason why Netflix and Disney+ alike sometimes produced overrated and low-taste K dramas even those are popular on those platforms. SMH. LOL.

      • @Somebody…🤣 No need to be sorry…I am glad I can kept Park Seo Joon to myself here. 😍😍

      • @HL , Brexit made me really sad ! But you still have all that i have mentioned and @Somebody gave up on PSJ too ! What more do you want from us ? 😭😭😭 Why do i feel like i’m about to sing ” The winner takes it all ”
        😉

  3. I really enjoyed watching it, great plot and everyone acted well there. If the drama maintains the same level of quality till it ends, it will be added to my list of all-time favourite Korean dramas.

  4. This and Perfect Marriage Revenge (I enjoy both) are a master class in execution changing premise. It’s the same concept, but in PMR it’s ladies in ball gowns tossing around chairs – super entertaining. But in MMH the low key way Park Min Young’s character is still torn by and in some ways loves her awful best friend is touching because it’s how real people act and feel. You empathise and are entertained.

  5. I’m really enjoying this drama, and seeing Kang Jiwon grow to be so brave while exacting her revenge on the two villains. The least interesting character for me though is Jihyuk. I know he’s depressed and has a bleak outlook thinking he’s only going to be around for another 10 years, but can he be less bland?

  6. Does anyone know if the SKorean brand they keep buying jewelleries and fashion actually exist??

I love it when she threw the ring and it scatters…Made of glass.

This drama is just so easy to watch. The lead actor is clearly Lee Yi-kyung. He is just amazing.

The sweet romance between Chefy Baek and foodie Yoo will be so sweet and cute to watch next…

I am preparing some tears for Yoo Ji Hyuk in coming eps…

I really want to watch pushover Leader Yang fight back… and I hope she did not get cancer…

    • I really hope to see more moments between Chief Baek and Yoo ? I know she is married but her husband is a good for nothing !

      • Yes…Leader Yang seem to live Kang Ji-won’s old life- Useless husband, Gastric issue due to stress…

I am sure Chief Baek and Yang will have good ending.

  7. I LOVE THE PINK CHANEL Bag!!! Since my hubby will kill me if I buy it..I will have to buy the leather and make my own version…will be amended as I dont like to replica a exact design.

  8. Kudos to all the cast, specifically PMY and the supporting actors playing two shady antagonists. They brought their characters to life and made this revenge story so down to earth yet not boring. The ML, NIW, is decent too and I love the bonus he’s tall/very good looking LOL. But there’s not much elaborated on his side of story and he appeared to be there just to get PMY out of the fate in her previous life. I hope there will be much more about his arcs in next few eps. PMY did a good job being methodologically vengeful, quietly protesting her pains being mistreated in her previous life, but an explosive force be reckoned with when the due victories came. I felt that her personal experience in a relationship with a wrong guy might have helped her better interpret her role and emotions as a wronged woman in the drama.

  9. I’m actually really enjoying this Kdrama and it’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed one. This one is better than the other previous similar drama that just aired a while ago (interesting premise too, but very cheesy which I dropped). I hope the FL gets her revenge and happiness, but I love Lee Yi Kyung to pieces ever since Waikiki so while he is annoying and hateful yet at the same time funny, I can’t bring myself to hate him.

    • YES ditto! And it’s refreshing, not as cliche-predictable.

Because, with some enjoyable ones – it’s almost a given what they’re going to do next, or we’ve been watching years of way too many.

    • I also love Lee Yi Kyung! There’s definitely still something comedic about his villain character. It’s like it’s funny to see him fail (I sound like a horrible person). He’s built up a lot of good will from me between Waikiki and Go Back Couple. I don’t think I could ever hate him as an actor, just impressed he’s such a chameleon.
