Well The Princess Royal fans (me included!) are in for a treat as C-ent is all but confirming that Zhao Jin Mai and Zhang Ling He are teaming up for a round two. Or round three, since their TPR characters are already on their own round two haha. They have been cast in the C-drama Our Generation adapted from the novel Cherry Amber. There have been many stars rumored for this drama and at least two times it was headed towards production but reportedly this time is the charm as filming has been scheduled to start in August. I’m so sold on this reunion, their acting and chemistry is just so lovely onscreen and really easy to watch. I’m fairly certain TPR is headed for a happy ending but I don’t mind even more happiness for these two in modern times as well.

They would look great in modern attire. They both seem suited for modern. Historical stuff just makes them seem a little out of place.
Wow this is a treat, there were some bumpy starts to The Princess Royal but the CP starts to grow on you. They look adorable and cute together. And ZLH suits the role, sillily in love with the princess. I think ZJM suits modern drama better but ZLH suits costume for me. And C-drama is just bad with modern drama except with just a FEW. But hoping for the best, let’s see!

Now if only he could act. How disappointing that his visual is driving casting while his acting is at best mediocre and more often than not below that.

ZJM’s last modern romance Amidst a Snowstorm of Love failed big time and a huge disappointment because of lack of chemistry with Wu Lei. Nonetheless, she had very cute chemistry with ZLH in the Princess Royal. I’m currently following TPR for this pair although the plot isn’t as interesting as the Double. I do think visually, modern romance may even work better between them.
TPR started a bit out of place because the lines sounded too modern and ZJM’s aura didn’t appear a good fit for a costume drama either. But she’s getting better and better in the latter eps. I enjoyed watching her with ZLH together on screen. Their quips were amusing sometimes. LOL
The TPR drama seriously copied the exact same sentences from the nobwl. The novel’s writer is indeed famous in China but yes her historical fictions is too modern, even the characters think modernly too.
Well, I feel the exact opposite lol as I loved angel zhao and leo wu together, felt their chemistry to the bone… while with tpr, I just can’t seem to get really involved with them; sometimes they’re cute but then it seems to me just anybody else would’ve worked also
Agree with Helin. I enjoyed watching ZJM and LW despite being a LW and LS shipper lol. Dont get me wrong, it’s 100% for fun.
TPR is getting better in plot, chemistry and acting but still didnt give me a ‘spectacular’ vibe. Yeah, the problem is me bcuz deep down i Probably compared it with JoL2 and TD.
Zhang Ling He and Zhao Jin Mai don’t have chemistry.
Tbh the fastest OTP reunion I think is Cheng Yi and Li Yi Tong LOL.
If I’m not wrong they filmed Heroes Legend and Fox Matchmaker 3 as OTP almost back to back and both dramas have yet to air!
Amidst A Snowstorm Of Love was an international sensation, like the The Princess Royal. We can’t wait for Our Generation / Cherry Amber, Zhao Jin Mai’s works (Reset, Growing Pain etc.) are internationally recognized her acting prowess and the leading men she’s with are great too. ♥️
