Tencent Airdrops Period C-drama The Glory with Chen Du Ling and Xin Yun Lai Formerly Titled Noble Lady

Talk about a big surprise on a random middle of March courtesy of Tencent, the platform released C-drama The Glory with zero announcement today so start your binge if this is on your bingo list of to-watch dramas. The same title unfortunate aspect to the hit Netflix K-drama The Glory aside, the Chinese title also changed from Gui Nu (貴女 or Noble Lady) to Yan Hui Shi (雁回时 or Goose Returning Time) signifying the return of Chen Du Ling as the titular noble lady back to her family residence after childhood exile and slowly plotting her revenge and way to the top. Xin Yun Lai steps up as male lead and together these two can probably deliver the chemistry and acting if the plot and directing is good because neither have the fandom buzz to bring in viewers on their own. Good news is the drama is adapted from the novel by the same writer Qian Shan Cha Ke as Legend of the Female General and The Double, and the upcoming drama adaptation of Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage.

cdrama choices for english titles sometimes make me cringe. Seems like it would be an interesting drama!
Yah I recognize the female lead but the male lead I have no clue. He seems to have a very generic look to me… not saying he is ugly just I don’t feel male lead material but I guess when I watch I will see if he leads well…it looks a bit gloomy the poster but the dramas description sounds lovey dovey and family oriented. The title is a bit odd but I feel the title is what will make people curious to watch more than the leads.
Trying the first 3 episode… i’ve read many novels with this genre. But not every actress can deliver the character well. We’ll see. It’s just the beginning tho.
I just found out about the ML. He looks fine. CDL and him are good looking people.
I caught up with the first 3 episodes and it’s not bad at all. Reminds me of The Double and Chen Du Ling is carrying herself really well, the ML (don’t really know much about him) is not bad either. I just hope it doesn’t fade cause I really need something to be good these days.
I really want to watch this due to it being from the same author of The Double but I was really disappointed with ML’s acting in ShenLi that I’m skeptical to start. Hope that that was just the role and he improved in this drama
I think I’ll wait for a few more episodes to be released before I start watching it. Three episodes just won’t be enough to keep me satisfied for the week.
Please be good! Chinese costume dramas are the only thing I enjoy watching these days.
Same as others, I tried the first few eps thanks to the same writer of the Double. I’m also not so appealed to the ML, mainly visually. His presence reminds me of Zhang Wan Yi though, both not very good looking in costume but the acting is ok. I didn’t find this drama as interesting as the Double. The leading actors could be a factor.
I watched the first episode yesterday, and it was great, so I am looking forward to seeing more episodes.
it is quite good, although the double is way more addicting than this. both leads are good
The story is interesting but I wish there was more chemistry with the leads. It’s mostly the dude doesn’t seem interested in her or generating any heat. He actually had more chemistry with the sword girl.
A lot of people are comparing this to The Double since it’s from the same book author. I actually really like this drama and enjoy every moment. I have not fast forward any scene. I really like The Double too, but I have to be honest, I fast forward a lots of scene/episodes in that one.
Great drama so far. Male lead was in the legend of chenli and he did a great job in that drama too I just wish we could get more episodes at once instead
This is an excellent production all in all. Very much worth watching.
Pacing and flow is good – this show has managed to keep me engaged. Next thing you know 45 minutes is over and I’m binging through the first 10+ episodes like a happy marathon.
Chen Duling and Xin Yun Lai are doing it for me. Not a lot of romance at all (not the actors fault) but it’s better this way- allows the story to be focused on revenge and characterization.
