Tencent Releases New Stills and Posters for Legend of the Female General as it Gears Up for Likely August 2025 Release
The new promos for Legend of the Female General bodes well for the insider chatter that Tencent will release it in August 2025. That’s less than two months from now, but six months longer than the originally scheduled February release that was scuttled due to the scandal and alleged misconduct by the supporting male lead. He’s since been AI-face swapped and while I adore that cute male character from the novel if the role is cut down it’s not going to be a dealbreaker for the story flow. Leads Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei are close to how I picture the two characters from the novel, and the story if adapted straight is one of those satisfying revenge and resurrection female empowerment stories that has both a satisfying obstacle to overcome and a well earned payoff.
I haven’t read the novel but how can a female general looks so frail or am I just taking the title too literally? But I like ZY face so I want to check this out.

There’s a movie C-actress with a strong body type who did a boxing movie. I don’t remember her name though. But most idol actresses are definitely on the skinny side. It does seem kind of ridiculous when they play generals and the like, same for skinny male actors who look thinner than an average woman 😅
Ma Sichun is one actress in Oh My General that I felt better then many other popular C-actress. Thus still not that great.

Just release it already before someone else gets into a scandal and we have to do this AI face swap all over again!
And yes. Zhou Ye might look frail but she has RBF which helps make her look pretty fierce. I think Fan Shuaiqi, who was in Guardians of Dafeng and New Life Begins would make a pretty convincing female general, but she mostly just plays support roles.
