Bai Lu and Her Team Reportedly Unhappy with the Unappealing Costume Designs for Currently Filming Period C-drama Mo Li
Lol, I can’t believe I’m seeing the opposite reason but the same thing that happened with Dilraba Dilmurat and her fandom during the filming of her C-drama Love Beyond the Grave. There the complaint on her costume was that it was too ornate and too much going on all over the place. Now there are complaints coming out from the set Mo Li with the costuming for female lead Bai Lu. The BTS shots show primary colors, very simple cuts, and relatively little hair accessories and her team and fandom are not happy with it. The main issue is that it looks cheap and poor quality and they kinda have a point. Word on the street is that Bai Lu is asking for costume upgrades and redos so let’s see if upcoming filmed scenes she looks better. Can’t believe for one I want more doo-dads on her haha.

It is embarrassing she is still stuck filming these dramas after so many years. She was way bigger problems than the look of some costumes. As someone with real acting talent, she could have gone places and yet here we are.
Again. It’s 2025 and there are still people who don’t know what the Chinese industry values. It’s not talent, it’s not quality, it’s not creativity, it’s not variety…. It’s the numbers, the traffic. There will be those who want to go against the current, and there will be those who decide to be part of it. Anyways, Bai Lu is just a decent actress. Her acting range is not adequate for productions where versatility is required. She’s fine doing this kind of dramas, and I can watch it as long as the plot doesn’t let down the basics of human intelligence. Lol.
Don’t even start, I have forgotten more about cent than you have ever learned.
She is a good actress and in a sea of mediocrity that is cent, no worse than many so-called big names. She is deteriorating, sure, but that is because of filming these garbage dramas.
Lol numbers mean nothing when you have capital behind you. Cent actors go through flop after flop after flop and it means nothing. True traffic is as rare as it can be, fake traffic is everywhere in China.
Let’s not pretend being locked in contract with Yu Zheng who decides everything is somehow her making a choice over this or that. It has gotten so bad for her thanks to his horrible choices that she has lost pretty much all chances now of ever getting anywhere. This is her level now, worrying about dresses, in yet another drama that is just like a million other ones she has already filmed. Cent eats talent and spits it out. Like her.
@Jessica there is no relationship between the type of drama and her work as an actress though. Her characters are not similar to each other to come to consider that her skills were left undeveloped due to lack of variety or typecasting in her roles. I doubt her boss told her to continue to use the same mannerisms in every drama possible. It is not the first time that I read insinuations about the lack of autonomy that those who work with Yu Zheng supposedly have. In the past, it was also said that Song Wei Long could not develop his potential because of him. The funny thing is that he has not been affiliated with Huanyu Ent for more than a year now, but his acting level is still lacking.
hehehe look without prejudice
her drama won a lot of viewer and she also very success in gaining public love
thru drama and show, winning the awar
@Jessica, well said.
They should talk about the script instead! After the Legends I couldnt cont any of her drama characters with costume dramas. Its like she lost the light in her eyes when she is acting…She is acting but she is not at all %100there with her characters :c
The costumes aren’t unappealing, they just don’t fit Bai Lu. That green costume and styling is befitting of Ye Li when she’s showing the image of a calm elegant wife of the prince.
I like it. They bling her out too much usually!! This is actually a breath of fresh air. Let your acting do the talking.
Oh dear! But at least these costumes look unique compared to her other dramas. Bai Lu stars in so many period dramas, it’s hard to tell which is what based on the costumes alone. At least these look different, if unflattering and cheap.
Her fans are creating a fuss because they are they are used to her glammed up with extravagant ornaments and costume to make up for her mediocre visuals. This simple style is Lin Yufen’s signature and you can see beauties like Yang Mi, Ni Ni and Song Zuer looking good in it.
Also like someone mentioned above, Bai Lu is stuck filming the same genre of dramas because she wants and needs traffic to continue getting endorsements. Only xianxias and costume dramas are able to continue gaining her fans. Her acting isn’t good enough to get acting accolades, so her team finds it pointless for her to abandon traffic to film “proper” dramas like Northward. Earlier this year, Yu Zheng tried fighting with Yang Zi’s team for The Mo but the production team ultimately ended up choosing Yang Zi.
Bai Lu was recently in Northward… and the drama was well received in China. I have seen her trying different roles. But not many good ones come by. Capitalist wants to make money and they invest in period dramas. Thus good roles are available.
I personally dont see what is wrong with her doing her job. Having a good role is better then taking on dramas with low viewers. She is in her Prime, just accepts good roles. In 5yrs time or more, she will not get them. She can in the next 30yrs or more try out serious roles like Liu Tao. No need to rush. Bai Lu will be around for a long time but her youth will not. I may not be her fan but I respect her choices.
The only thing that matters to me is, as long as Bai Lu wants to act. she acts. Just dont burnt out for Yu Zheng. When she wants to rest, rest. She does not own Yu Zheng anymore as she has earned enough money for him.
Much ado about nothing from C fans again. LOL. They don’t realize costume upgrade won’t make her a more interesting actress one step up. IMO, BL has been downgraded from being serviceable to boring on screen. Aside from gossip, I have no interest in any of her dramas. But I remember she didn’t start off this bland.
I’ve checked out several Bai Lu dramas but have never finished any of them. Her acting is serviceable, nothing to complain much about but also nothing memorable to me. Her costume drama styling is usually very excessively ornate so it might not be a bad idea to make it simpler as long as it doesn’t look cheaply done.
Sometimes what fans want for you or expect of you doesn’t necessarily align with your personal aspirations. I’m curious to know if Bai Lu has ever shared her career aspirations.
There are people who enter the entertainment industry just to find work, a well-paying job with celebrity perks. I feel like actors often talk about not forgetting their original intention and wanting to transform in order to be taken seriously but I don’t think this applies to everyone. Some actors may be content making money filming the dramas they get, participating in variety shows, and shooting endorsements. Not everyone is striving to become an acclaimed thespian. Pursuing lofty goals and ideals comes second to securing your rice bowl.
