C-actress Yu Shu Xin Deals with Fallout of Negative News with Resurrection of Bullying Allegations Against Another Actress and Questions About Her Family Wealth — 33 Comments

    • No money is easy to earn… her family’s wealth may not be her fault but she did benefit from their help alot.
Let see how if she can ride it thru.

  1. Can’t say I feel sorry for them. They all know the price of being a celebrity. She enjoyed alot of successes over the past years so there is bound to be some bumps. That is just normal part of life. Can’t always be smooth sailing. She’s lucky because her parents are super duper rich so she probably entered the industry because she wants fame. If it falters, I don’t think she would care that much.

  2. Didn’t she change her agency already? Even in other countries when talents leave them after being with them for so long they suddenly encounter an “issue”.
Why now? And her antis are probably fanning the flames.
I still like her but I have to admit that she can be polarizing. She was born rich so I feel like she has this confidence of who she is that may come off as arrogant. From variety shows to being a succesful actress she still invested her time and hard work and not just her money. I hope she continues doing dramas cos I am still a fan.

  3. She is a well known nepo kid who got into entertainment without much talent in acting thanks to her father financing her roles. Combine it all with now and you get what you get.

But at least now we know why she signed with Yuehua. Dirty agency that is perfect for this stuff.

    • Isnโ€™t that true for Guan Xiaotong and some others as well? Plenty of nepo kids everywhere. As much as I envy rich people itโ€™s not a crime to be rich. YSX is popular because she acts well and her drama choices are good. Her popularity has nothing to do with her money. China doesnโ€™t exactly give much space for talents to stand out due to the market being over saturated but she managed to build a popular following for herself despite it does speak volumes about her own personal brand which has nothing to do with her wealth. Besides all these allegations being proven false or at least not significant enough to stop dramas from employing her. Sheโ€™s out shooting a new variety show already.

      • Her status has everything to do with her money.

Here father bought all her roles, including LBAFAD. She didn’t earn a single thing because of her tskent, that is nonexistent anyway. She can’t act, never could. Everything was bought for her.

I love to see you D riding for a rich girl who has been stealing roles from more talented people for years. It is so pathetic but that makes it extra funny.

      • LBFAD is literally just 3 years old and sheโ€™s only filmed 4-5 dramas since then which is less than half of what most popular stars film. Even less popular actresses like DLW have filmed more dramas in that time. Youโ€™re bending over backwards to hate on an actress that barely has any roles to her name. If sheโ€™s stealing roles she should have been the lead in many more popular dramas. Besides LBFAD was projected to fail while Sword and Fairy did actually fail. She has exactly 2 hit dramas in her entire career how did she steal ALL the popular roles? Her hype is bigger than her peers because the dramas that did do well were so good that people couldnโ€™t stop being obsessed with them. Especially the chemistry with the male leads was off the charts. Her acting can have a divided taste is understandable but she literally doesnโ€™t even have enough roles to steal from others. Are you seriously telling me ANYONE would want to steal roles from less than mediocre dramas like Romance of the Little Forest and Ski Into Love? I feel bad for anyone who was forced into doing those dramas. If she was going to steal roles she should have done First Frost, Lost You Forever or You Are My Glory level dramas. Why did she do so many low budget dramas if her family was buying her roles? At least try to make sense when hating on someone. She doesnโ€™t even have a single luxury brand GBA so what are her family doing? Why arenโ€™t they buying her endorsements that even mid level influencers can have. Make it make sense.

  4. I disagree that she isn’t talented. She is. She’s worked hard at her career and she has the credits to back it up.

What I see here and on other online platforms is discrimination against her because she is rich. This is a surprise to me as I’ve always seen it play out the other way round.

Because a person is a ‘nepo baby’ doesn’t always mean they have no talent. There are many nepo babies in Hollywood and in Asia who have the talent to back it up, they just have an easier time breaking into the industry than someone without connections. I agree with the commenter above that says she must take the good with the bad. Negative press is part of being a celebrity. She should just ride it out until she has another breakout drama. Even bad press is still publicity.

  5. It smells something fishy and shady whenever someone’s huge wealth is said to be associated with state funded assets. As someone working in the financial risk management, no brainer for me to wonder if her parents could have snatched assets illegally. How does managing state funded assets could have got you so rich, Mr. and Mrs. Yu, hmmmm? Fund managers are still employees, not equivalent to the owners of the funds, not to mention the funds are state owned belonging to the country, i.e., China and all the Chinese taxpayers, unless they got a portion that wasn’t supposed to belong to them. LOL. This isn’t uncommon among the Chinese privileged though. LOL. Many Chinese privileged are rich enough to buy a country (ๅฏŒๅฏๆ•ตๅœ‹) since they accumulated their assets by stealing revenues, profits, and stock shares from state-run businesses.

I’ve never considered Esther Yu a good actress anyway. It just make senses for me to believe that she’s nothing but a nepo baby. The rumors coming back on her don’t surprise me at all.

  6. The Chinese seem to hate people who take advantage of their privilege. They love to go on witch hunts. They’re not necessarily wrong. These nepo baby and people which have connections are definetly blocking ordinary people way. I donโ€™t feel sorry for her.

  7. The bullying allegations sound weak and I feel like the allegations with her family’s finances would have come out earlier would have come out earlier. And it’s no secret that she rich and a nepo baby (not that it’s a bad thing).

    • They did come out earlier, they have been successfully surpressed since May. You couldn’t even make a post on Weibo, it would be deleted within moments, as well as your account.

It only came to light now because ZLS fans wouldn’t give up.

Lol at being a nepo baby being a good thing. Well, if you like them so much, I sincerely hope one of your loved ones loses a job because a nepo baby wants it. Don’t forget what you said then, it is a good thing!

      • Itโ€™s not a good or bad thing. Itโ€™s just a thing. Canโ€™t do anything about being born rich and successful since birth. Privilege is a reality and being poor is our own problem. ZLS herself has a very poor image in China and very likely will never regain her past fame. Her fans harping on things wonโ€™t bring her back to stardom. Women tearing down other women is never a good look and itโ€™ll harm other women as well.

      • It is irrelevant what ZLS image is. Stop moving the goalposts.

The point is that the upper poster talked about the news about Esther’s family not coming out earlier when in fact it did, it just got successfully suppressed.

And yes, rich people getting jobs ahead of more qualified people is bad. It is so pathetic to see you try and hand wave this. It is bad when it is Dakota Johnson, it is bad when it is Esther Yu, it is bad when it is some Harvard legacy nepo in some other field.

You are correct that you are poor, you are poor in spirit when you are a boot licker for the rich without an ounce of self-respect.

      • @Smh being a keyboard warrior for a celebrity doesnโ€™t make you rich either. You are still only helping her cause and YSX is still forging ahead in her career. So what did you gain out of pointing hate at her? Sheโ€™s loved by the industry which canโ€™t get enough of her. Sheโ€™s got three S+ dramas back to back to film and endless new endorsements and Fashion Weeks to attend. Her family has the money to sue you but do you have the money to pay the lawyer fees? Donโ€™t get into fights that are between two celebrities. They donโ€™t deserve the attention. Both of them will still swim in money no matter what happens and you will not gain even one penny from that. And donโ€™t envy the rich instead work hard to become rich. You envying their privilege will not make it disappear ever. The world loves to see the rich stay rich and successful. We love being enamoured by grand celebrity weddings we canโ€™t ever afford but seeing other people live rich and successful lives is something most people enjoy and one day hope to have for themselves. Harvard legacy nepo are entitled to have everything that comes with it. Itโ€™s called Legacy for a reason. Unfortunately we werenโ€™t good enough for it but one day if we build our own legacy than future gene can benefit from it.

      • @Smh, although I disagreed with you a lot in the past, I can’t disagree with you this time. How is this relevant to ZLS in regard to Esther being a nepo baby. It’s a fact that nepotism does give less qualified people advantages more opportunities. Money does buy a lot of things that only work behind the door.

I personally don’t believe Esther could have gone this far without much of her parents’ help.

      • When I said โ€œnepo babyโ€ isnโ€™t necessarily a bad thing, I didnโ€™t mean it was a good thing either. Just that it wasnโ€™t meant as a personal dig at Esther or her work. Itโ€™s simply a way to acknowledge that some people benefit from family connections, whether directly or through the advantages that come with wealth and access.

That said, some nepo babies are self-aware, talented, hardworking, and genuinely grateful for their privilege. Others, lacking those qualities, are really just industry plants with a trust fund and entitled hacks.

Thanks for letting me know that the family company tax evasion stuff was already coming out in May and was being suppressed. I guess I was thinking about why the stuff didn’t come out when Esther Yu fervor seemed its highest with LBFAD followed by LGIEF. Her 2025 work seemed quiet.

    • Agreed. And if there was embezzling of state assets and tax evasion, it definitely wouldn’t be found on publicly available financial statements. The fact that the company is no longer in existence and her father was a minority shareholder makes it very difficult to clarify.

  8. Compared to where she is now, back then she was seriously lacking in every aspect of being a celebrity. Her singing, her acting, even her visuals.
Honestly, I canโ€™t help but feel like her success was largely thanks to her mega-rich family backing her up.

  9. Who even are the actors mentioned above? Money is a double edged sword for sure but I like her and seems like someone is out for her.Too many green eyed monsters in the Chinese industry and inflated egos. It seems truly brutal how it feels like a mean girls fest with both male and female actors. But I donโ€™t blame them alone. The agencies seem to fuel this stuff too. Super competitive in a very unhealthy way. The netizens and fan base too seem very fickle too and can be super unhealthy borderline bullies themselves. Their entertainment environment just does not feel very peaceful. Like can the celebrities ever relax and ride the wave of their success without being targeted.. I donโ€™t think so. Probably wonโ€™t ever change.

    • Don’t forget her 800 marketing accounts that write positive articles for her and negative ones for others. She has attacked so many actors and actresses. It’s no wonder that many fandoms are against her and add fuel. She will eventually be revealed sooner or later. You can always continue to defend her. Not surprising. People who have power are always helped by those who love being crushed.

      • Hmmm since Iโ€™m American and not Chinese her success or failure has no affect on me. So silly. I still like her and her dramas regardless. Itโ€™s all toxic and she is not the sole instigator in the industries toxicity. So continue on with your hate and putting others down for disagreeing. It still wonโ€™t affect my like for her. Iโ€™m in no way crushed. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

      • Unsure if youโ€™re really naive enough to believe that her wealth isnโ€™t exactly why sheโ€™s where she is today. Her family banks her dramas so she gets to pick her roles AND her costars. Her voice is worse than scratching on a chalkboard and her bug eyed โ€œcutesyโ€ act is so painful on the eyes that I only lasted 5 minutes into one of her dramas. Yet no one from any production team has the guts to tell her she needs to be dubbed. No one dares to correct her โ€œactingโ€. Sheโ€™s been surrounded for so long by people kissing her feet that her acting has actually gotten worse. There are an endless number of young actresses who should be ahead of her but they donโ€™t have the money or connections. And yes, popularity can be bought in China via hot searches, fake ratings, and water armies to bump any positive (fake) post as well as remove any negative post about her. I posted something sarcastic about her on an obviously fake glowing fan post on weibo and my post was deleted in less than 30 seconds. Thatโ€™s why thereโ€™s never anything negative about on her on weibo- it disappears immediately. I donโ€™t hate on people for being rich, I dislike them for making an otherwise good drama unwatchable

      • @LizzyD never said otherwise. I just feel if this actually true who else is not doing so? Iโ€™m saying all of the celebs and agencies in some way do these things. I simply watch her because Iโ€™m chill watching her. Yes her fake voice is annoying and until her agency convinces otherwise for her to stop it is what it is. It still is obnoxious in general how some dubbing does not always match the vibes of some Chinese dramas and vice versa when these actors try to use their real voice. I still watch her because Iโ€™m cool with it. You might not but that does not mean others will be with your disdain. For now speculation and rumors are just speculation and rumors. I watch what I watch not by others opinions alone. So many praises on some dramas I have steered away from cause I just did not vibe with it. But Iโ€™m not going to rain hate on others just because we donโ€™t see eye to eye. To each their own.

    • It sounds like alot but its 700,000 followers out of 30 million. She now has 29 million followers. I don’t think she is as hated by the public as the articles makes it seem. There’s a group of extremely loud and vocal people protesting her on every single platform, but I don’t think the general public had completely written her off since all the serious allegations are just speculation at this point.

  10. She sucks at acting. If the rumors are true then I won’t be sad to see her blacklisted. She’s ruined dramas with her nails on chalkboard voice and overacting. It’s so funny to see so many bootlickers here. If you like her, whatever. But her being a nepo baby IS a bad thing. She would not have these roles due to her own effort and people in the industry with actual talent are overlooked while these rich kids who’ve never worked a day in their life are handed things because of their parents. You can enjoy her dramas well and fine, but pls stop being such a loser and defending the practice of her billionaire father buying her roles. It’s pathetic.

  11. Yahh okay. Whatever y’all say. I’m sure her wealth is what led her to win youth with you ๐Ÿ™„. I’m sure it’s her wealth that contributed to the success of LBFAD and LGIEF. I’m sure her talentless self got her major cred from all her previous hits and reality shows, and not, idk, her charisma and skills. Being a nepo baby is not a sin, unless they suck at it, e.g. one very famous actress known for having “ethereal” beauty and can’t emote to save her life. Not Esther who can have 10+ expressions in a 20 second conversation.

Omg she called someone a snake spirit, how vicious! How she can someone that, totally a horrible person. ๐Ÿ™„. People just love to blow up the tiniest thing.

  12. I am liking her a lot in LBFAD, she shines in the role and the two mains have excellent chemistry and banter. Seen a lot about her voice, which worked in this – fairy-like. If it is an ever constant then yes, I can see it grating but have only seen her in one other role – Journey to You, and it’s ok, am enjoying it, so far, beautifully shot but have to watch it at 1.25, everything seems slow-mo.

Personally, find a lot of women’s voices on the girly side – probably why I like Bai Lu’s, hers isn’t. At least, if that is her real voice, I wouldn’t know, what with all the dubbing that apparently goes on.
