C-actor Xu Kai Reportedly Axed From Soon to Start Filming C-drama Ting Feng Ling After Allegations of His Running a Private Gambling Game From His Home — 12 Comments

  1. Not being conversant with either government policy or what actually goes on, there, I think he’s an idiot if he actually did this. It is clearly something easily discoverable and easy material to use against him, if that is what someone wants to do.

I am curious about the who’s and why’s – the motivation for outing him. Presumably, there will be others that will also be named/shamed/investigated, it’s not an activity he could do alone.

    • You make a very good point about others being named and (hopefully) investigated. Oddly most of these scandal scenarios that I’ve read (only started reading this website this year though), seem to ignore the ‘other’ people that would have been involved to focus only on the celebrity. For example, I was so curious about the claim that Song Zuer’s ex-manager made about Song Zuer’s supposid tax evasion… I was like, Wait – YOU were her manager while she was acting during that time?!? — Wouldn’t that make it YOU, the ex-manager the one in charge of the tax evasion??? She’s an actress; she wouldn’t have been doing her own finances; that’s the job that a manager would be supervising NOT the actress! But, although Song Zuer has been able to barely survive that gossip I haven’t heard anything about the ex-manager being held responsible? Does anyone know how that panned out?

      • I was surprised when he was offered this new role and his recent drama did well in douban despite the ex GFs’ allegations. Without this gambling scandal he would still be soaring high …. Wondering whether he will recover and there is another upcoming drama with Zhou Ye…. Has it been filmed?

      • The people who framed Song Zuer for tax evasion ran off to the states in time, so there’s probably gonna be no justice served unless they reenter China one day, if the case doesn’t go cold by then or if they even seriously put those people on the black list. But honestly, Song Zuer lost two years because she has no powerful backing to help pull her back quickly. Talk about a company that took advantage of her, took her money, killed her career, and got away. Sad. Even though she has returned, haters still say she’s not innocent, she still committed crimes, and etc. Shes been cleared. If not, she wouldn’t be filming again like the others.

  2. They have brains. Why bother wasting so much money before being sure about his problematic life. It wasnt first problem it prob wont be last one. They can pick clean image actor and go with it.
Now his first billing position will also be in danger if he ends up getting new roles…

  3. There were rumors that some of the gambling involve the final payment amount of his acting fees. I’m not too sure what that means though.

  4. Clearly us westerner think this is silly, because playing cards with some $ on the line during friends gathering is normal.
On the other hand, I agreed w/ him being dropped out. Production can’t take a chance, it’s too costly/risky and he is not worth it (no matter how big they are).

  5. Ok, I’m ot a fan of his but I’ve seen a lot of things happening in CNET. I think it’s very shady that this is coming to light now and I wouldn’t be surprised that someone is benefiting from all this drama. Think about it – all this is hearsay for now but he’ll have to work on disproving this happened and a normal person will think that there’s no smoke withour fire.

No matter what happens, he’s reputation is affected by all of this and he might not recover so some other actor will take his place in a couple of upcoming productions.

  6. He’s handsome but his acting has deteriorated so much from his early days. He barely looks like he’s even trying in Moonlit Reunion, so good riddance I guess.
