Fallout From C-netizen Furor Over Jeon Ji Hyun and K-drama Tempest Insulting China Hits First K-star as Song Hye Kyo’s Upcoming Brand CF is Reportedly Switching to a C-actress Instead — 9 Comments

  1. The growing outrage and fallout seems intense for something that might not even be JJH’s own opinion. Is this to distract from a much bigger recent scandal? Smoke and mirrors…

  2. Never thought I’d see the day that Song Hye Gyo loses an endorsement in China. The issue and the fallout must be worse than what is being reported in Korean media when even Song Hye Gyo is affected.

  3. Don’t work w/ China period. The $ is not worth it if u are already an A list. They’ll cancel u for any reason even if it’s not related to you or something your country did. All they could do is cried and post online until anybody and anyone is cancel.

  4. Like who cares?! K-ent continues to earn highly profitable CFs from brand names, mainly by Kpop idols. What I’ve seen here in the West is the continuously increasing influence of K showbiz on the Western market. The growing popularity of Kpop into main stream of the western music market also attracts more ppl here to Kdrama. Chinese market isn’t the unique mine for gold rush anymore. The huge population has lost its edge in making profits. Capital investment is fleeing from the continent and that had been consistently demonstrated in all sorts of economic indices including PMI. Once the economy got weaker, the purchasing power would dwindle too. It’s no brainer.

SK businesses should soon learn that their prospects and sources of income will come mostly outside China as geopolitics around the country are getting intensely belligerent that already have had huge negative impacts on China’s economy.

I don’t seen anything much lost on the K-ent side. This is just one more much ado about nothing.

  5. I’ve adored Tempest since it first aired, but I have to admit that it’s mainly for the main leads. Their onscreen presence and chemistry are the things that I’ve been looking forward to in this drama. Not that the story is not good, the premise is really good. It’s just that this drama only contains 9 episodes and the topics are so vast that it actually even needs around 16-20 episodes to cover all those complicated things.
But, KDW and JJH are really amazing as and endearing as they’re both chungmuro that so many people including me hope that they will reunite in another drama/movie as KDW suggested in his interview during the press conference day

    • I’m watching this and agree with your comments about the onscreen presence and chemistry. JJH and KDW are a match made in casting heaven. They just look like they belong together. Like another comment said, the two of them are equally matched in charisma.

I’m following this on XHS, and majority of the posts and comments are fangirling over how hot KDW is and the chemistry, lol.

  6. Really? XHS? Wow, I didn’t expect that. I thought the controversy was like toning down the excitement of this drama there. So, this is hot on XHS? KDW is so damn fine here OMG. He’s undoubtedly handsome, but his charisma and styling here takes him to the next level lol Yes, they match each other so well that I think it’s rare to see this kind of combination in drama land. I mean, they both match in terms of height, good looks, aura, and charisma. Their onscreen presence and chemistry are the things that make this drama so special
