Leaked Recording of Award Winning Director Wong Kar Wai Includes Criticism of Actress Tang Yan for Being Fake After Working Together on Blossoms Shanghai
C-ent has juicy dirt this weekend with the released recording by an unknown screenwriter person who claims he worked on award winning C-drama Blossoms Shanghai but got no credit and was removed. The recording is of a conversation with BH’s famous director Wong Kar Wai where he discussed, among other topics, one of his leading actresses in that drama Tang Yan. She got a career resurgence thanks to being cast in that role and performing well, changing her image from flower pot to someone who can act. She also has the reputation of being thoughtful and professional at work but Wong Kar Wai called her “fake” in the recording, saying she claims to arrive on set early but then shows up after the elder (teacher) is there. This is total tea since it is a criticism of Tang Yan’s persona and her real life actions, and also has the director that made her mega famous again talking poorly about her.

This is a illegal recording…I hate such move.
Hmmm well isn’t it tough to work as an actress or actor? Just a bit of complaint and they would be slammed by everyone. And they get banned etc.
In contrast a crew member or director can say anything and they can still thrive in the industry.
Life is unfair. Sigh…..
The drama BS itself is literally BS in many aspects. The script and the directing failed Hu Ge who was the reason for me to finish the drama….with regret LOL. None of the three FLs did their jobs to impress me either. A huge waste of my time on 30 eps of frivolous plot. The drama rambled zero story except for playing with fans’ retrospective nostalgia of old Shanghai. Award winning my a$$! This is one more example of proof that C-ent awards are a lot of jokes. LOL. No surprise the director dissed one of his own leading ladies. LOL
So, is he lying? Because there is a difference between wkw lying about her being late and telling the truth. If she was late, she was late.
Plus come on, this came out because wkw is beefing with another director.
Doubt he needs to lie…facts are facts anyway.
He sounds petty.
As usual, I see no comments, even though the comments say there are six of them. It gets so frustrating.
After opening the article page, hit F5 (refresh), and the comments should appear.
That is just a small blip/side-story (I don’t dislike Tang Yan, but I don’t think anyone cares if she fibbed about her punctuality) in the overall scandal exposed or generated by the leaked recordings – the scandal regarding the exploitation of young or assistant writers and crew members. WKW’s despot behavior onset isn’t a surprise and people had been willing to justify it in the pursuit of art, but people are more willing nowadays to examine the exploitation of power.
How much of famous screenwriters’ stuff is just ghost-written by other writers who will never be credited?
Wong Kar Wai really lost a lot of his mystique and cinema god status after The Grandmaster with all the stuff that came out about his behavior back then and his spats with Tony Leung because of his treatment of the other cast and crew. He can’t forever be worshipped in the industry just because of his past glories.
Better not turn out to be fake AI. Been seeing too many as of late. If true, nothing be be ashamed of. If u r late, u are late.
