Jeon Ji Hyun Declines Espionage Thriller K-drama The Koreans as Filming Conflicts wit Her Prior Accepted Fantasy Romance Drama Human X Gumiho
I won’t read into the reason given as it could be true or just an excuse but I think this may be a smart choice for Jeon Ji Hyun. The top actress has turned down big budget and high profile espionage and political thriller K-drama The Koreans opposite Lee Byung Hun. She will instead head into filming fantasy romance K-drama Human X Gumiho with Ji Chang Wook, because she accepted that drama before The Koreans, though it was announced after, and thought the filming for the two would be consecutive rather than overlapping as it turns out. Her last drama Tempest with Kang Dong Won was a political thriller and controversially impacted her career in Mainland China due to protests over certain depictions of China in the fictional narrative so a change of genre with her next project feels like a safer choice than another political drama.

Glad she is not working with Lee Byun Hun, even thru he is a big film/drama star. Happy she is staying away from him and also another political drama may not a suitable choice now.
Plot wise and acting wise, the Koreans sounds a lot more interesting than Human x Gumiho.
Glad she’s not gonna be paired with an actor to my disliking.
How does JCW shoot so many works? All his characters have started looking the same.
JJH and LBH seem like a mismatch anyway, I don’t foresee any chemistry based on their acting style or past works. Good decision for her to drop out.
If these actresses continue to work with average (at best) actors (lmh, kdw, jcw, come ooon), then it will be hard to level up their acting skills. Seems like they’re in the acting business for the fame and the perks rather than the craft. One way to live I suppose.
JCW always appears in a flop drama..and this time the plot sound boring too,,another failed drama of him in the making. No wonder he accepted a lot of drama.,when your drama never get a rating hits..that mean your paycheck definitely cheaper and more affordable than the other rating hits actors..
Could at least save JTBC from their prolonged ratings slump but not counting on it. JJH’s acting has stagnated but she’s doing just fine while still getting offers. It is surprising though that she’s turning down a prestige project much like Tempest and going with a cable romcom with JCW.
