Youku Courting Wang Chu Ran for Big Budget Xianxia C-drama Thriving After the Moon Falls with Male Lead Ao Rui Peng
New C-drama casting alert and I can see this pairing happening for the reason that it’s a new one in the carousel of possible combos. The Youku xianxia C-drama Thriving After the Moon Falls (烛月潮生 Zhu Yue Chao Sheng) is courting C-actress Wang Chu Ran for the female lead. Male lead is currently still set on Ao Rui Peng, and the production wants a strong female lead who is on the up and up to bolster the buzz. This drama was announced awhile ago and then went quiet in the casting but recently is back on the active roster so if both leads have the availability and sign on, I expect filming to commence shortly thereafter.
Not against ARP, but his panda-eye makeup isn’t my cup of tea. LOL. These idol costume dramas should all tone down makeup, specifically the makeup for male leads. Their makeup looks more and more like Beijing opera. LOL

Also agree with the previous comments regarding excessive makeup for the male actors. The overly effeminate look in many dramas is really off-putting. They’re pretending to be generals but look like they’re afraid of breaking a nail.
Wang Churan and Ao Rui Peng should be great. I love watching Wang Churan in a strong female character.
In my opinion the most important aspect is the script. Without a good script, it won’t work
