iQiyi Airdrops Speed and Love with Yu Shu Xin and He Yu This Week as Expected Delivering an Old School Idol Romance Tableau — 28 Comments

  1. It was too sweet for my taste. Esther is being Esther. He Yu is hawt. I do wish to see him on an anti-hero character next time.

I skipped many scenes before deciding to quit. But fans love it. Is it popular right now?

  2. Just finished 4 episodes in one go. So far it’s pretty okay for me, but I think I’ll pause first and wait until all the episodes finish airing before I continue. The story kind of reminds me of old Taiwanese dramas from like 20 years ago. I can’t remember which one, but the vibe is totally there. Also… the male lead is seriously goodlooking.

    • you took the words right out of my mouth! i was really looking forward to this one because i looooveeeee fauxcest plots. but at ep6 now, & i cannot stand how spoiled & dumb as fxxk the FL is. how old is she? 6??? huge disconnect between the sexy trailer i saw & the actual drama… very disappointed.

  3. I am only watching because of He Yu, not only is he good looking, he plays the bad boy role so well. Goodness, how can you love someone like Jiang Mun though…she acts like a baby and she always has the same baby expression, it got old real fast. I’m sorry any Esther fans, she’s really bad in this and that voice, jeez. I’m skipping all her scenes.

  4. This is the problem with Esther. She is 30 years old but keeps playing a dumb baby for every character she portrays. My Journey to You was the only one where she wasn’t a bumbling idiot. 30! It is time to put these kinds of characters to rest. It’s not cute, it’s painfully cringe. There gets to a point where your age really does alter how your character is perceived. Younger actresses in their 20s don’t even do these kinds of roles and they don’t have a billionaire backing their choices.

    • You’re not missing anything by skipping them. I checked out several of her dramas, I could not stand her. She reminds me of those frustratingly low IQ candy characters from old shojo mangas and animes, even her makeup is similar. She needs to invest in better plastic surgeon, acting coach, and a voice coach.

      • Completely agree with you!. But I was gonna check out this one to watch He Yu. Per the feedback, it seems it would just give me another episode of headache feeling total waste of time. lol

  5. Oof this is sad to hear. I know this production’s had some issues already and it seems the rumors aren’t without merit. I have faith in Esther – not all of her projects are watchable, but that goes for all artists in general. Even if this one doesn’t do well, she’ll find success with the next one.

      • Hi HTS! No I haven’t watched it yet. I’ve been going on short/vertical drama binge lately or watching donghuas instead lol, so I actually haven’t sat down to finish a single long form drama for a while, including this one.

But the short dramas have been able to keep my attention and now I feel a bit of a dread with watching long dramas

      • Funny enough…I just started on VSD too….some are just amazing. I have a number of favoured artistes too. I love to watch different artistes in those short dramas.

      • I know – some of them really hit the spot! Especially when i just want to cut the fluff and focus on the couple. And those satisfying b1tchslaps and lack of regulations on rebirth/transmigration plot that i find so fun. Best of all, there’s enough out there that i dont have to wait daily for an upload – can just digest all at once.

VSD are still evolving and improving, and some of them have good production values (much better than previously.) But it still takes time to find good ones. I especially like wacky ones, and cdramas don’t have enough of those!

      • You should check “Blade of Justice” with Zeng Hui and Jiang Wuhan. I was surprised by Jiang Wuhan’s charisma in that show. Her character lowkeye reminded me Andrea Parker in “The Pretender”

  6. I don’t get why her fans say she’s a great actress. All her facial expressions are the same. And her cutesy voice gets on my nerves. She used to have a normal voice in some of her old videos, so it’s not natural to her

  7. I feel dumber after watching this. Do the producers really think the audience is brainless? Ugh. I need me some smart female character to recircuit my brain

  8. Omg someone needs to tell Esther that young bubbly and cute does not mean acting like a 5 year old toddler. She’s likeable but it’s becoming a dangerous line between cutstey and ridiculous
But this is really an appreciation post for He Yu! Where did they find this dude!!! How did he stay hidden for this long. Every time
I want to roll my eyes at Esther doing her crazy thing I just look over to He Yu and think ok im ok – I can endure this for you hottie hahahahah

    • Yes! Esther Yu is a 30 year old playing a 20 year old who acts like a 3 year old! Hope she realizes soon that a romance where the female protagonist acts like a toddler is creepy and off putting. I liked the trailer and was hoping for a good romance. I have enjoyed some of her dramas and she was great in My Journey to You. But this character is a bridge too far for me.
I hope to see He Yu in a better romance in the future.

    • Absolutely this. Cute can be done well! Zhang Miaoyi and Tian Xiwei are both fantastic at playing bubbly characters without it being cringe or overdone, and they’re both around the same age as Esther so that’s not the problem. It’s the acting, Esther is one dimensional and seems to only know how to play an over the top cartoon character when doing cutesy
