Ao Rui Peng and Zhang Miao Yi Now in Discussions for Xianxia C-drama Wrong Era
I really thought this drama would be filming already after earlier discussions on the leads close to being cast. But alas, we’re still in the casting phase for Tencent xianxia C-drama Wrong Era (Chinese title Cuo Shi 错世) and now there is a new male lead actor popped up. Ao Rui Peng is now offered the male lead for the drama and if the casting gets finalized he will be paired up with earlier rumored female lead Zhang Miao Yi. I don’t feel too strong either way about either star but this at least is a fresh pairing and I think visually they probably can look quite good together.

He looked good in The Seven Relics of Ill Omen without all THAT heavy makeup.
I enjoy afew of Zhang Miao Yi’s dramas. She is adorable and with the right roles, she can deliver.
I liked Zhang Miaoyi in WIFTY, but I don’t consider her performance particularly noteworthy. Her character was appealing, and combined with the good chemistry she had with her co-star, she earned the points. Since I mentioned WIFTY, I still think China has the best youth dramas.
agree with the last point ’cause almost my whole life i’ve been watching coming-of-age or slice-of-life type of dramas from japan/south korea and now that i’ve been exploring chinese things, i can see that they cover more aspects like internal growth, self-discovery, rites of passage, loss of innocence, and social/cultural context. i also appreciate that in some youth c-dramas, romance isn’t the main focus. i have nothing against it but i find it unnecessary in stories where the characters want to go out and explore the world.
I agree too. I really enjoy a great number of China’s Youth dramas.
@HL: Please share all the titles that come to mind. I really like Reborn (2025) and Twelve Letters, so it doesn’t matter if they include bittersweet or sad elements.🙏
There are people saying that none of them have enough traffic and it’s gonna flop but at the same time they want to see new faces
Make up your mind 😂
LOL
Haha, too true!
I’m not big fans of them, but I think they’re a good match. Both are surprisingly actually older than the puppy energy they give off.
most of the time she’s visually below her-costars (both female and male). but she’s fine in modern dramas as there are no implications ’bout her looks in any sense. but i don’t think she has appeal as a xianxia heroine.
Oh, she reminded me of Ren Min. I liked her performances in two films and in Serenade of Peaceful Joy, but I don’t think costume drama styling does her a favor. There are actors who level up because of the glam, it doesn’t work with her. And from what I’ve seen of Zhang Miao Yi, either.
