As we head into the final months of 2026 let’s see if the prognostication for next year looks better. Tencent is prepping a new modern romance C-drama titled 28th Year Spring or The 28th Spring (第二十八年春) and it’s reportedly been a project that’s been around the block with various actors and actresses and production teams attached. It then went dark … Continue reading →
Looks like we have a bona fide hit in the making with newly premiered SBS medical drama Doctor X: Mafia in White. Starring Kim Ji Won as the titular crazy talented surgeon with supporting leads Lee Jung Eun, Son Hyun Joo, and Kim Woo Seok, the drama premiered this weekend with 11.4% double digit ratings and the second episode went … Continue reading →
So this is the second big Republic era C-drama to arrive in just the span of a few months so let’s see if The Lament of Autumn (Yu Zhao Qiu 玉簟秋) will manage to be better than Overdo. Lucky for it the bar isn’t high at all to be better, but unfortunately from the previews it looks like the same … Continue reading →
Well of course these two C-stars are for sure going to work together on a romance drama, the only question is when and what type of series. It’s now looking like the C-drama that will pair up Song Wei Long and Wang Chu Ran is a modern romance titled The Dimming Lights (Hua Deng Chu Xia 华灯初下) adapted from the … Continue reading →
Well good for these two to land a new C-drama that is set to start production soon. C-ent is reporting that Wu Jin Yan and Deng Kai will star in Tencent period drama Legally Ladies (刀笔娘子 Dao Bi Niang Zi), which is such a modern English title I keep doing double takes haha. The drama is about three sisters who … Continue reading →
So the premiere of this drama totally flew under my radar, both from it not being widely promoted it seems and because I was busy with work and travels. But now I have more episodes of Shadow Punisher to binge if this one turns out good and I’m definitely keen to check out because it reminds me of an underrated … Continue reading →
I feel like between Zhou Ye and Xu Kai neither have had a well performing C-drama in each of their last forays and joining together for this outing in Spring of the Blade just continued their lackluster performances. The drama has earned it’s low 5.4 Douban opening ratings after a slew of criticism from the start with the dumb script, … Continue reading →
Summer of 2026 was pretty meh for me in terms of K-dramas but fall is here and there a a few I’m curious to check out. One of them arrives this week with SBS premiering medical series Doctor X: Mafia in White in the Fri-Sat time slot. This is basically a Kim Ji Won drama with her playing the role … Continue reading →
This drama is on deck to start filming in Q1 2027 but it’s one of the few big budget productions being prepped right now so worth covering. The female lead for Hunan TV period drama Have It All will be Meng Zi Yi, she’s been confirmed and announced since a few months now. The male lead is now almost certainly … Continue reading →
If this happened during the heyday of K-pop I think K-netizens would have a collective aneurysm, both from stars daring to date and from who these two are lol. Leave it to idol turned actress Nana to have two “scandals” in the span of a week, first with the lip fillers distracting from her sageuk visuals and now with news … Continue reading →
If the first half of 2026 was all about Pursuit of Jade in terms of period drama buzz, then the second half of 2026 is likely going to be won by Against the Current. The period drama from Tencent starring Tan Song Yun and Liu Xue Yi has owned the month of September and is breaking records within its platform, … Continue reading →
So 2026 really will be a year where the South Korean public is exceedingly annoyed by created entertainment distorting or allegedly distorting real life history. Last week saw the premiere of big budget high profile movie The Assassin(s), which was an early shoe-in for next year’s awards thanks to the cast and production team. Starring Yoo Hae Jin, Park Hae … Continue reading →
Vertical C-dramas are basically cheap short form entertainment for the short attention span new era and visuals mean more than acting, plot, or dialogue. I’m not saying upcoming iQiyi modern C-drama The Leading Stars (许你星河千里 Shu Ni Xing He Qian Li) is a vertical drama but it certainly gave off those vibes despite what appears to be a proper plot, … Continue reading →
