The City of Stars has a male lead and during the nearly one year development lag it’s not the star first offered the role last year. Byun Yo Han will get his first male lead role after confirming City of Stars, which I remember being the sci-fi space travel themed drama that was courting Hyun Bin. Binnie ultimately went with … Continue reading →
I find tvN Wed-Thurs drama Encounter (Boyfriend) petering out for me emotionally, and without even the how will it end curiosity that sustained me into the black abyss that was the end of Memories of Alhambra. Encounter actually makes a lot of narrative, too much so that it’s in dullsville territory because we know Soo Hyun and Jin Hyuk need … Continue reading →
While current jTBC Fri-Sat night drama Sky Castle is rightfully dominating the air waves, it’ll soon wrap up in the first weekend of February and new arrival Legal High will air just after lunar new year. If Sky Castle hits a little too close to home on the competitive nature of South Korean parents and their progeny with respect to … Continue reading →
Call me a masochist but I’m actually looking forward to the impending breakup of the leads in Encounter (Boyfriend). While Soo Hyun has led an emotionally difficult life, Jin Hyun has grown up in love and safety and truly doesn’t comprehend how badly Soo Hyun’s enemies could hurt her and his friends/family. I need them to solve problems first before … Continue reading →
It’s January of a new year and time to check out who is starting off the year on top of the drama K-actor and actress buzz rankings. Veteran leading lady Yeom Jung Ah takes the win thanks to the record breaking success of Sky Castle. Following right behind is Hyun Bin for Memories of Alhambra in second place, and coming … Continue reading →
I have a new Spring J-dorama to look forward to and it totally blends together what Japan does so well. Yamashita Tomohisa is returning to the small screen to headline the J-dorama adaptation of popular manga In Hand. The visual conceit is that the male lead a super smart parasitologist has a black prosthetic arm for a replacement hand but … Continue reading →
OH HELLS YEAH! My decade long wait is over for K-actor Kim Jae Wook to FINALLY be a K-drama rom-com male lead. Not romantic drama second male lead which he was wasted in both Marry Stayed Out All Night and Temperature of Love but to be the main guy because I need him to get the girl in the end … Continue reading →
Welp, we all know we go grocery shopping with platonic guy friends, amirite? That’s what Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin want us all to believe this week after pictures of the two grocery shopping in Los Angeles surfaced. This is the second reported sighting of the two in LA following the first report two weeks ago that the two … Continue reading →
I’m not a fan of Song Hye Kyo‘s short bob for her character in tvN romance Encounter (Boyfriend) but it suits the personality and she manages to work it so that I think she actually looks quite pretty with such a boring look. It’s growing out in the last few months and for this latest sunglasses pictorial it’s longer enough … Continue reading →
Memories of Alhambra ended this Sunday in an avalanche of “IT SUCKED DONKEY BALLS” reaction from viewers and for once it was 100% justified. I wanted my final post to pay respects to both leads Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye because the narrative and characeterization lapses were not their doing, and while Hyun Bin went above and beyond in … Continue reading →
Last year 2018 was a fantastic career year for K-actress Park Min Young. With a ratings and buzzy hit drama the likes of Why Secretary Kim, it’s enough to sustain popularity for a period of time so in 2019 she can afford to be picky about her projects. She’s worked consistently for over a decade but hasn’t had a hit … Continue reading →
This is a textbook quirky photo shoot that only works because there are dogs involved and because the two leads are wink wink in the know about how off beat they need to be. Park So Dam and D.O. (Do Kyung Soo) are turning into a pair of dogs this month, animated dogs to be exact as they voice the … Continue reading →
Sat-Sun tvN drama Memories of Alhambra entered its final weekend of airing with a sense of thank goodness it’s almost over and wistfulness of what could have been has the writer picked a path and stuck to it. The bibimbap-ing of Jin Woo’s game quest with Hee Joo’s worry for her missing brother and then smushing their two concerns into … Continue reading →
