Lately the photo shoots I’ve been seeing have all been on the underwhelming side. Great outdoor shoot locations aren’t used for any visible impact, hardly any innovative wow concepts, and generally the two-dimensional aspect of print photos have been like its name suggests and felt flat. A good print photograph feels like a snap shot of a moment in time, … Continue reading →
It feels like all the second lead Sun Woo shippers in Monstar switched over to shipping him with Na Na rather than Se Yi. That works for me, though the love triangle bit was absolutely compelling. That scene in the car in episode 6 when Sun Woo revealed that he was THE Sun Woo from Se Yi’s childhood, and the … Continue reading →
I usually embrace change readily but one thing I remain adamantly old school about are wuxia dramas. I don’t do fantasy wuxia or RPG wuxia because it’s like some weird hybrid of silliness without the epic depth. I’ve watched a few of Tangren’s takes such as Chinese Paladin, Chinese Paladin 3, and Xuan Yuan Sword and none of them were … Continue reading →
The other upcoming I-see-dead-people K-drama The Master’s Sun has quietly started filming two weeks ago and I’m loving the massive head start this drama got. It’s slated to air on SBS Wed-Thurs after I Hear Your Voice, and if that drama gets a four-episode extension from sixteen to twenty episodes due to the good ratings, then TMS won’t air until … Continue reading →
Kim Jae Won got married this Saturday and normally I would have checked out the pictures with a smile and shrug but this time I was rather touched by it all. First off, Kim Jae Won looks so incredibly handsome and perfect at his own real life wedding ever surpassing any onscreen visage that I simply have to post it. … Continue reading →
With Gu Family Book taking a 422-year time jump into K-drama infamy (at least the nonsensical endings of dramas such as Big or Queen In Hyun’s Man ended with the OTP still intact and in their current incarnations), its more straight-shooting sageuk network successor Goddess of Fire Jeongi readies for its premiere by trotting out its cast for the press … Continue reading →
Episode 7 of Monstar was worth the wait – the emotional tussles all get moved forward one big step all around and the music element finally crosses the first major payoff with the performance of hodge-podge Color Bar versus the cream of the school crop All for One. I have to say the wait was worth this, this harkens back … Continue reading →
One barometer of how good Monstar keeps getting is that even as I’m digesting the awesome of a just aired episode seeing the preview for the next one gets me raring to hurtle forward into next week so I can keep riding this high. It’s like finishing one great chapter and you just have this urge to start the next … Continue reading →
There is something so darn familiar about Sword and Flower (The Blade and Petal) that draws me to it literally like a bee to a flower. The familiarity stems from this drama feeling and looking and sounding like a typical C-wuxia drama than anything K-drama-esque. The star-crossed lovers, the military coup, the stylized fighting, the sleek aura, it all serves … Continue reading →
I think its safe to assume that most people tuning in for the upcoming SBS weekend drama Goddess of Marriage is interested in the main love triangle of Kim Ji Hoon, Nam Sang Mi, and Lee Sang Woo. I don’t blame them, the more I see of the other three couples in the drama the less I’m keen on spending … Continue reading →
Is that what I think it is? Jealous Se Yi? Little clueless Sheep Girl with daddy issues being jealous when she sees Seol Chan hugging Na Na? Oh heck yeah! It’s finally about time the final leg of the love triangle in Monstar starts realizing she’s got some emotional stakes in the ground as well, what with the two boys … Continue reading →
Even as SETTV is riding the coattails of the repeat pairing of tabloid friendly George Hu and Annie Chen in Love Around, the network might actually have an even juicier and more promising something something happening over on Friday night on the set of Just You. Co-stars Puff Guo and Aaron Yan hit it off right from the start, gushing … Continue reading →
Now I know why Kim Soo Hyun showed up at the VIP movie premiere of Cold Eyes wearing a green polka dot shirt and sporting a Sam Dong from Dream High expression from when he first arrived in Seoul from the countryside. He’s about to play an alien in his upcoming drama and he’s already method acting! He’s being courted … Continue reading →
