Oh man, I don’t know how I’m going to restrain myself until this drama airs the proper version I want to watch. The Other Shore 1945 with Vic Zhou and Janine Chang released two more trailers, and I’ve translated all the dialogue below the video. Word is that the drama will air in late May in China, and early July … Continue reading →
The upcoming TW-movie Bad Girl (女孩壞壞) with Ella Chen and Mike He held its pre-production costume fitting and first photo shoot of its two lead actors yesterday. Ella plays a hardscrabble high school student who loves her family, and forms a girl gang called Bad Girls to protect the neighborhood and keep it free of crime. One day a movie … Continue reading →
In preparation for this weekend’s premiere of the TW-drama Drunken to Love You, I hereby bring the detailed character synopsis for the main cast, and well as the plot outline (it’s a three-month marriage contract, yo!). It’s not terribly spoilery, especially since as a live-filmed drama I suspect the script for DTLY remains subject to change depending on how well received … Continue reading →
This week saw the premiere of the first ever primetime drama from the cable network TvN, the nanny-with-a-twist light and fluffy Manny, starring Seo Ji Seok, Choi Jung Yoon, and Byung Jung Soo. After watching the first two episodes, I am utterly smitten and bewitched – it’s simultaneously LOL-funny yet tender and sincere. You know what drama this reminds me … Continue reading →
I am a weak Koala when it comes to Han Hyo Joo. She hasn’t done a single drama I’ve loved (thought Brilliant Legacy came close), her performances range from perfunctory to poke-my-eyes-out bad, and yet I love this girl. I think it’s her girl-next-door looks and bright personality that make me love her in real life, and all that love … Continue reading →
City Hunter is probably the last of all the May dramas to premiere, but it started filming over a month ago since it’s had an overseas shoot in Thailand, and likely will incorporate action sequences into the drama which would require to drama to have more episodes in the can before its premiere to be on the safe side. The … Continue reading →
We’ve got the first sneak peaks at two of my most anticipated May K-dramas. SBS released the first official stills of Yoon Eun Hye in Lie to Me, where her 5th level civil servant character plans a public event which goes haywhere when a hornet’s nest is accidentally disturbed. I much prefer Yoon Eun Hye’s roles as the everywoman, as … Continue reading →
Screenwriter So Hyun Kyung is really quite a chameleon of a writer. If I didn’t know that she wrote Brilliant Legacy/Shining Inheritance (and Prosecutor Princess – the few episodes I watched), I would have never guessed she’s the writer of 49 Days, this drama is so utterly different in tone, pace, execution, and construct than her previous works. It’s not … Continue reading →
It’s finally here! This coming Sunday SETTV will premiere Drunken to Love You with Rainie Yang, Joseph Chang, Tiffany Hsu, and Kingone Wang, and the entire cast was trotted out for the obligatory press conference yesterday. I don’t know if everyone swallowed pretty pills, or I’m wearing a pair of rose-tinted glasses, but wow does the main cast look great, … Continue reading →
Park Shin Hye transforms into a living doll in this set of stills for the April edition of Elle Girl magazine. I’m actually quite looking forward to Festival, her upcoming drama with Jung Yong Hwa, which is scheduled to premiere in early July following Best Love. I hope she sports longer locks for her role as a university music student … Continue reading →
This post is a complete and utter labor of love. The amount of time it took me to collect all the just released character synopsis and trailers, and then translate it all, stems purely from my love for Vic Zhou and Taiwanese-Chinese history. Vic’s upcoming epic period drama The Other Shore 1945 (彼岸1945, and formerly called Coming Home) wrapped filming in … Continue reading →
This recap is dedicated to Scheduler. Thank you for throwing the most LOL-worthy temper tantrum/hissy fit I’ve seen on a grown man in any K-drama. That, my good man-boy-spirit-thing, inspired me to recap this dang episode just for you! Scheduler is like a marshmallow wrapped in the body of a rocker dipped in the sauce of a diva. Also, some stuff happened … Continue reading →
Dammit, no fair KBS! I had minimal interest in this drama, so why’d you have to go and make such an effervescent and cute teaser trailer and get me all snapping my fingers and tapping my toes to the beat? The first trailer for the upcoming Mon-Tues drama Baby-faced Beauty with Jang Nara and Daniel Choi is out. And the trailer … Continue reading →
