I can’t believe it’s been a full year since Shin Hye Sun was on the small screen, last February was when her hit fantasy sageuk Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) finished airing on tvN. Having such high ratings and buzz from her last work makes her highly courted in K-ent for projects looking for a strong female lead and someone who … Continue reading →
An entertainment reporter at YTN wrote an article today (click here) that went into depth to discuss the first two episodes of just premiered jTBC drama Thirty Nine. I noticed the same criticisms and concerns already voiced by K-netizens here and there but to have it expressed cohesively explains why K-ent doesn’t think Thirty Nine isn’t primed (for now) as … Continue reading →
The bar was set so low for the pairing of younger actor Song Kang and noona actress Park Min Young that the positive premiere ratings for jTBC drama Forecasting Love and Weather must’ve been a relief for the network and their fans. It is also good news for Netflix which has the streaming rights and the platform released a set … Continue reading →
A word of caution, don’t click on this post to see the pictures below if you don’t want to be spoiled on a really major plot point in the drama Thirty Nine. I don’t mind spoilers, I was the kid who sometimes read the end of novels after the first chapter and then the middle section in between when the … Continue reading →
It’s like a forever groundhog day for K-actress Park Min Young, but if she can deliver the product and ratings I don’t see why she can’t stick with her sweet spot. K-ent is reporting that Park Min Young has been offered the female lead in upcoming rom-com K-drama MonWedFriTuesThursSat, with the male lead currently in talks with Yoo Yeon Seok. … Continue reading →
I wonder if Han So Hee and Park Hyung Sik wanted a break from all that revenge fighting and zombie fighting, respectively from their last dramas, and signed up for this quiet and softly warm upcoming romance drama Soundtrack #1. They just look so relaxed and comfortable together, and impart that same vibe to the viewers from the posters and … Continue reading →
K-viewers got a midweek treat this Wednesday with the arrival of jTBC Wed-Thurs drama Thirty Nine, adapted from a hit C-drama and with the female character led cast navigating the trials and tribulations of being on the cusp of forty years old. Age is for sure just a thing but I can see a culture fixated on women’s age mining … Continue reading →
I hope sparks majorly fly for upcoming romance drama Crazy Love, it’s got such a wild concept so the two leads are going to have to hard sell it. The first poster and preview is here and shows leads Kim Jae Wook and Krystal at a wedding, though it’s not the one of his dreams for sure. She’s got a … Continue reading →
There is so much WTF going on here with the clothing items Elle Korea draped over Yoona and Lee Jong Seok, and it’s to their credit that they pull it off with style. There are seams showing, weird cropping, and tonal and fabric mismatches, of course it’s all “intentional” but goodness it’s like they found items from a Goodwill bin … Continue reading →
It was not a happy Valentine’s Day 2022 in the Zhang-Wu family as news broke in C-ent that married acting couple and former drama costars Zhang Yu Jian and Janice Wu (Wu Qian) have divorced. They confirmed their relationship and marriage during last year’s Valentine’s Day but were together since working on the C-drama Le Coup de Foudre in 2019. … Continue reading →
The COVID-19 surge in South Korea in no joke, since December for the last three months its non stop news about this star/actor/singer/idol testing positive. There are way too many to keep post tabs on but on the occasion it’s a super big name star or someone I follow closely it does remind that entertainers don’t have the luxury of … Continue reading →
I found Song Hye Kyo‘s last drama Now, We are Breaking Up a real waste of the fashion industry. I don’t know if I was simply not feeling the fashions and plot lines but I felt the drama could have been set in any other industry and the same issues could apply. I also didn’t deliver the edgy trendy “high … Continue reading →
It’s a sigh of relief after the weekend premieres of two new cable dramas, and probably the biggest winners from opening weekend’s good ratings and good reviews (critics and K-netizens) are the young male leads Nam Joo Hyuk and Song Kang. They even give off similar auras as tall, boy-next-door type male actors and I can see them being up … Continue reading →
