The two unexpected surprise C-dramas of March 2024, by which I mean the expectations were low and promos next to none, have come out with diametrically opposite Douban ratings. The spate of March 2024 C-dramas have gotten their opening Douban ratings this week and the highest rated is republic era spy drama War of Faith with Wang Yibo and Li Qin at 7.8. That’s followed by The Legend of Shen Li with Zhao Li Ying and Lin Geng Xin opening with a decent 7.2. The cheesy looking xianxia C-drama Burning Flames with Allen Ren and Xing Fei got a better than expected 6.3, I was thinking lower than that. And that lower than that went to dark surprise hit In Blossom with Ju Jing Yi and Liu Xue Yi getting a measly 5.5 which is really surprisingly since all the chatter about the drama is how much better it was compared to expectations. What do you guys think, agree or disagree on any of these being too high or too low? I’ve only watched Shen Li in its entirety and I think 7.2 is on the spot. It’s good but not great.
