If tvN sageuk Arthdal Chronicles ends up being a bust at least the cast and crew is already set for season 2 and 3 with the drama being split into 3-parts including a simulcast on Netflix. As lame and kinda dorky the posters and previews looked, I can’t imagine it’s a full on dud what with the star power and … Continue reading →
I’m getting this stark dichotomy after watching the just released four character teaser preview for tvN drama Arthdal Chronicles. It actually helps me make sense of the wildly varied previews so far. Leads Kim Ji Won and Song Joong Ki seem to be acting in a Disney version of a sageuk complete with perfectly applied face paint, artfully curled hair, … Continue reading →
Can I just use the teaser drama poster for now, or at least until the production for tvN sageuk Arthdal Chronicles comes up with a better official drama poster than the one just released. It’s bad, like so so bad. Straight out of photoshop 101 where characters posing individually against a green screen is cropped into an array in the … Continue reading →
Upcoming tvN sageuk Arthdal Chronicles continues to ramp up for its June 2019 premiere and I continue to be mildly amused at how artfully every one of the cast members are styled. We’re talking early Gojoseon era which is pre-recorded history in the Korean annals so there is a lot of wiggle room for what people looked like and I … Continue reading →
It’s a bold gamble for tvN to break from the continuous airing nature of K-dramas for an entire story line and announce that it will air upcoming early era fantasy sageuk Arthdal Chronicles in seasons. This follows the Netflix zombie drama Kingdom which aired season 1 earlier this year with season 2 coming shortly. Arthdal will be split into three … Continue reading →
Those who haven’t watched K-dramas since the early Hallyu days (2000 onward) when it started the Pan-Asia spread probably don’t realize that sageuks are a HUGE part of the entire industry. Dae Jang Gum isn’t the most popular K-drama of all time without a reason, and many of the top rated K-dramas of all time are period dramas including Hur … Continue reading →
tvN dropped a new teaser this weekend for epic warrior sageuk Arthdal Chronicles (Asadal Chronicles) and my guts me it’ll be a rollicking ride because of the budget and the fact that we haven’t had this type of epic sageuk in years. The Legend and Jumong occupy the earlier days of Hallyu and may not be as watchable today so … Continue reading →
Third set is not the charm for me as my burgeoning excitement for upcoming tvN sageuk drama Arthdal Chronicles (Asadal Chronicle) took a pause with the release of first stills with female lead Kim Ji Won. I liked her a lot as the second female lead in Descendants of the Sun even though she wasn’t super believable as a medical … Continue reading →
I’ve been following along with SBS big budget thriller drama Vagabond more closely so when it was pushed back from May to September to accommodate a simulcast on Netflix I was all mopey about the additional wait. I totally forgot that tvN is premiering on June 1 the epic legendary era sageuk drama Asadal Chronicles so seeing the first teaser … Continue reading →
We’re off to the races for 2019 as this year winds to an end, with filming commencing for the massive scale sageuk drama epic Asadal Chronicles. Starring Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won, and Kim Ok Bin, the drama is set in the early days of Gojoseon (Old Joseon), a time period even before Goguryeo. Asadal was … Continue reading →
The British-founded scent house Jo Malone is doing a concerted push in South Korea because this month has not just one but two big ad campaigns for the brand. First there was the pictorial with L (Kim Myung Soo) laying around a room, presumably smelling very good, and now comes the pictorial with Kim Ji Won spending the afternoon in … Continue reading →
This is a huge K-drama confirmed casting but the impact has been tempered by the three leads names bandied about for some time in connection with this project. Upcoming ancient history sageuk Asadal has locked down leads Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, Jang Dong Gun, and Kim Ok Bin. The four will front what is arguably the biggest K-drama … Continue reading →
Prolific and ratings winner Korean screenwriter Kim Eun Sook generates a lot of buzz and garners a lot of loyalty from her collaborating actors and actresses. She gets lots of cameos in her dramas from folks who have worked with her previously, and for the just premiered tvN period drama Mr. Sunshine there is a return of two popular stars … Continue reading →
